Radio - JR & Spektrum DSM > DSX9 Certification

Well I sucked it up and got the DSX9 UK compliant radio. I know is is very much overpriced, but without a radio i don't have much choice.

One question though on bringing it home is I note the exclamation mark is beside the CE certification. Given this, other than the McGregor logo on the top, how are you meant to know it is the reduced power model??

Stupidly enough the exclamation mark is there to tell you that although it is legal to be "placed" on the market, it is not necessarily legal to use it !

The MacGregor CE logo on the base and the MacGregor JR top plate is sufficient to tell you that it is a EU compliant and therefore legal system.

I see, cheers MM. Even though she is pricey, it is a wonderful radio and I'm stoked to get flying this weekend

If you come across one and you doubt its authenticity, I maintain a full listing of all compliant DSX9 serial numbers.

Hi guys

Just a quick question about this. I am sure it has been discussed before.

I bought a DSX9 set about 1 month ago in South Africa. I have no idea which spec it was built to. How could i find out?

I live in Dubai and travel all over the world. It would be nice to know if i could use my set in the UK and Europe. Or elsewhere for that matter.

What are the different global requirements?

Regards
Paul

Are there "POWER POLICE" squads that are going to chase me down if I bring my U.S.A. radio over there and use it???

It's OK....It's not your fault !!!

If its used at an official site / fly in / competition, you may not be allowed to use it.

How is the ETSI certification of the JR/Spektrum radios coming along?

As I recall, they need power changed to 3db lower.

Also I thought the x9303 had a menu to change the power... Or is that the new 12 channel radio?

The DX6i lets you change transmit power from the menu. I haven't seen that menu in my x9303 but it would have bee a great idea.

Apparently there is also additional screening inside so that it meets the EU requirements.
