Does anyone have experience testing servos? I just had one go bad during spool down. The servo went to the end of its travel and froze. The heli slowly rolled over on its side and cracked the main blades. If had happened in the air, damage would have been serious.

All the servos were installed at the same time, and I am considering replacing them all if there is no reliable test.

Steve S.

I'm using a "servo lab" from fmadirect. Don't know if they still make them but you can put them in "ossilation test mode" at the speed you want.

I usually test all my new servo this way.

your 9z has a servo test function, undo all of the links and as your doing the servo test put your fingers on the arm and put a little pressure on them, and see how strong they are and compare the speeds.

Thanks for all the good advice. I have the Astroflight servo tester--I guess I should use it on the servos more often. I bought it mainly for testing camera shutter equipment. I like the idea of testing the servos under load, too. Regrettably, the FMA Servo Lab appears to have been discontinued.
