Hello guys,

I would like to know if there is a way to change antenna angles on the Fasst modules.

All the Fasst antennas i saw were able to rotate 90 degrees from folding to the back side of tx, to folding along the side of the tx. for me it would be more comfortable if the antenna could fold towards the sticks side of the tx.

Is this possible ?
Spektrum for example have their antennas rotate 180 degrees, not 90 degrees like futaba.

I remember a guy saying he removed a small tab inside the antenna link and removed the 90 degree limitation.

The problem with pointing it up toward the stick side, is that it will be pointing right at the model, which will give you with weakest signal. Point it 45 degrees down toward the ground, so the heli always sees the side of the antenna.

I am sure the techos at Futaba did lots of testing before deciding on the angle.

Is it a rule of thumb that in 2.4 its better for the aircraft to see the side of the antenna ?

Yes.

I remember a post made by Macman (UK JR Importer) that had a pic showing the wave form around a 2.4ghz antenna. The weakest area was precisely the front and back of the antenna. The sides have the highest output. I always make sure my antenna is at 45 degrees to the aircraft to expose the side to it.

Tony,

So why not fold it 90 degrees to the side and thats it ? that way the aircraft will always see the side of the antenna.

That would be a good idea and should work however I'm concerned that one of the sides of the antenna is almost in touch with the case at all time (not to mention your body)

I have been flying my helis all season so far as well as my 28% Extra 300 with my TM-14 module pointing downward and no problems at all.

My first flight I had the antenna pointing to the right, thinking that was best. However, when I was flying, I realized that when the heli was to my right, I didn't turn my body - just my head. The antenna was pointing right at the heli. No problems, but now I have it pointing down. I think that is why they designed the modules so the antenna is behind the handle.
