Got hold of an set of mechancis off an old Vario Starlight Trainer and am wondering if its possible to fit the Skyfox gears to it without modifications. Really need to drop the headspeed a bit for a scale project, but not sure if anything currently produced will fit? Anyone able to help?

Hello junglejet,
the Starlight wear the Vario "Hängemechanik".
It fits in the Cooling-tube.
The gear ratio is also 1:10 like the later Skyfox.
What Scale Heli will you build?
Rotordiameter and weight?
I have tested some gear ratios...
i fly this mechanik in my "tripple-two" since years,
it works perfect...
The Skyfox is an evolution from the Vario "Tuning-Hängemechanik" (by Ewald Heim), with a pair of Skyfox Side panells (Seitenteile) you can change this mechanic in an Skyfox...

i wish my english were so good as i can fly Helicopters...

Hallo Roger.

Heli will be a Westland Wessex with rotor diameter of 1680mm and a 4 blade head. Did not realise that the Hängemechanik was 10:1, suppose I could give it a try and see, but was looking for a headspeed ideally of 1300-1400 i recon. Do not know what the weight will be yet, as light as I can build it!

Hi junglejet,
i have seen some Wessex here in Germany...
it looks great!
I would take the Gear No.44/45 (58 Zähne) the gear ratio is 1:11,6
So you have a little bit more power at the Rotor.
What engine will you wear?
I prefere the 11,5 ccm Rossi engine
It works in my Huey (ca. 8kg) perfect since years
With a headspeed 1300 your engine rpm is a little bit low and and the power is less...
i think you need the 1:11,6 ratio...

i wish my english were so good as i can fly Helicopters...

Hello junglejet,
have you seen this...www.runryder.com/helicopter/t423834p1/

i would also use the metal-tailgearbox from the Benzintrainer, in case of your Multiblade Tailrotor

i wish my english were so good as i can fly Helicopters...
