Are the stock motors in the CX2 what makes so much noise? I was wondering if the aftermarket BB motors for the CX2 are any better? Is anyone using upgraded motors in their CX2? Thanks!

I HAVE PUT THE EXTREME REPLACEMENT MOTORS IN MINE BUT I THINK IT IS STILL AS LOUD AS IT WAS WITH THE E-FLITE MOTORS I HAVE PUT ON THE BLUE ANODIZED HEAT SINK AND THAT MUFFLED IT A BIT BUT NOT ENOUGH TO
ACCOUNT FOR MUCH.....(THEY NEED A QUITE MODE SWITCH)

05 Star. Don't type in all caps please. It's annoying and makes it seem like you're yelling.

Majority of noise comes from the pinion and drive gear mesh. Put some light tri flow or other light machine oil on there and it'll quiet down alot. Just put a tiny tiny little drop though or it's gonna fling everywhere.

I agree. The lash between the gears makes it noisy. I didn't think about oiling mine. I carved out a little plastic from the motor mount area and made them fit closer. That worked too!

I didn't have to go quite so far to set the mesh, but mine's probably still not as quiet as yours. For the beginners here I thought I'd mention that you can loosen the motor mount screws and "push" or twist the motor in to a slightly better position. We're not talking miles here but maybe a good 1/16 inch. Try it out if you find your mesh isn't quite right. How do you know if it's just right? Cut a piece of ordinary office paper and put it between the pinion and the drive gear. Squeeze them together reasonably tight on this paper to set mesh and tighten everything up. Good to go!
