Gasser Model RC Helicopters > GSR260 Head temp??? Where to find Parts??

I've looked on the post and between different people's post's cannot figure out what a good Head temp is for the GSR260. This is my first gasser and today had a reading between 220 on flight 1 and 290 on flight 2. What is the best temp to be safe?

If that is too hot, do I richen the needle?

My curves are set at -6, 6.5, 10
L Mid H

It will lift off just before mid stick with a nice smooth Head speed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Also, Where can I find additional parts such as a belt, rear blade grips linkages etc..etc...?

220 sounds good for temp but as long as your carb screws are close to 1 3/8 of a turn out and the engine is running good I don't think I would get too worried abo ut 290 either. The only place that sells and has parts for the GSR in the USA is airfoil. They advertise in the photography section.

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't sure and didn't want to smoke a new engine.

Is that the only place for parts?

What head speed would that be? Your head/engine speed has a direct effect on engine temps, not just the mixture, oil, oil ratio.

As has been widly advised adjacent posts, know your head speed. This is far more important to know than the temp reading.

Hope this helps,

Paul.

Paul,

Running about 1620 on head. That was last I checked it but I have played alittle with T curves.

I am going to do AP so I'm lifting some weight.

I think that may be a little high though not out of line. I don't remember what the GSR's gears are off the top of my head but the GSR I flew last year seemed happiest around 1500 running the white JR semi 810's. - this was carrying around 9 pounds.

...yep...

That's what I'm running. 810 semi's. I'll drop the head down and see if that cools things off a bit.

I have a back up GSR that needs some odds and ends...just needing a place to get parts. Thanks.

Yes, I think they run best at 1500 - 1550 don't they? I do believe it has a 8:1 gear ratio or close to this. That means she's running a a little fast but John at Airfoil does recommend this RPM range so keep to it.

I assume you flying it without any payload? Get the engine broken in and then strap some weight on to finalise your curves/stick position.

I'm flying it with everything but the camera on there. That's about 1 1/2 pounds ( Sony R1).

That's okay. You will feel the extra weight when you strap the camera on. It will probably feel a bit more stable and less sensitive with colletive actually. No point in finalising the curves until you have the payload fitted.

Paul.

P.S. Nice camera

Thank you Paul !!! I'm really enjoying the shots I am getting with it. Still learning what all it can do.

The only place I know of for parts is Airfoil. Airfoil gets the parts from Horizon I think since Horizonhobby is the importer for all the JR stuff but they don't even show anything for the GSR on their website.
