I have a cypher and the bird flys great but I am having an issue that cant be tracked down. I started losing head speed a few minutes into flight a couple weeks ago even though there was always plenty of battery left. I called Global and they sent me new motor and esc. Still did it. I checked and rechecked heli for any friction and everything turns really smooth and easy. For the heck of it, I put on an align 35amp esc and two times today it shut the motor down and esc heat sink was very hot. The only thing on heli that is not stock form is I am running CY radix 325 blades. Anyone have any ideas on where to go from here?

Thanks
Z

Mike,

We've been working on this a while, but let me ask you some questions just to be sure.

What headspeed are you running?

The reason I ask is that, if your headspeed is too low, the ESC will tend to get hot and the motor and battery will stay cool.

Thanks for reply Ron. We checked it a few times this weekend and it is running around 2600. Before it looses head speed it is a rocket on climbout. Also, the batts are fairly warm (about what I am use to with other electric helis) and the motor is luke warm.

Mike,

What does your throttle curve look like in Normal and Idle Up?

Ron,
Normal is Linear but most of flight is done in idle up and I have that set at 100,73,65,73,100.

Mike,

Try bumping those up a little. Try this:

Normal 0 - 40 - 65 - 85 - 100

Idle Up 100 - 85 - 80 - 85 - 100

Let me know if it helps.
