Computer Flight Simulators > G4 Help!!!

I FINALLY got my PC capable of running my new G4. Two questions. I downloaded the two files for the upgrade, but they won't run, until I upgrade the actual software. Not a big deal. Question is: do these two upgrades include the models I'm looking for (like TRexs, etc - actual models)???
Question 2: my sim/display is running very "notchy". I'm sure this has to be some kind of frame rate or something. What settings should I change first for a smoother look. I have a 2.4 Ghz Pentium w/ 1 gig memory and a new 128 Meg GeForce vid card.
Any help would really be appreciated.

If you are talking about Add ons 1 and 2 , there are no helis !
What is your frame rate ? You can display it , its in the "gadgets/navguides" menu . What graphics card do you have ?

At the end of the day , it gets dark .

Turn off the smoke, clouds, particles, trees and such and it will smooth out and be fine.

It's a eGeForce 5200 - 128 Meg vid memory - brand new - just bought it. He couldn't find a 256 card as these are getting obsolete - it's an AGP not PCI - older CPU.
I'll try eliminating those items (except smoke - gotta have smoke!!)
I really haven't spent any time with it yet. I'm not complaining about it by any means. Got some pretty cool graphics. Even the planks are fun to fly (love the Yak 3D). Love the knifedge loops!!
Just have to get off my (*) and play around with it. I thought those items would be a good place to start. Thanks guys!!

If you turn the particles off , you will not have smoke ! You may have to live with that - a 5200 isn't really enough to get the best out of G4 . Try a compromise and reduce particle quality . Turning off shadows , or at least reducing the quality of them , will help . You will aslo probably have to stick to the "photofield" sceneries .
Also try some different graphics card drivers .

At the end of the day , it gets dark .

for the info. I'll just turn some stuff off I guess. I'm not going to get into another card. I JUST bought this one last week and was lucky I could get this one. AGP's are getting hard to find and I fought with this older CPU for a month just getting it to run G4 at all!! I won't dump anymore into it, I'd be better off buying a new machine and frankly I'd rather use the cash for a new BeamE4 or towards a Vibe or Extreme. I use this machine everyday for work (Autocad) and it works fine for that, so I'm not gonna reinvent the wheel just for a sim. I'll play with the settings and just live with it. Funny thing, it doesn't do it flying planks, only heli's??

Then it could be the smoke , try prop hanging a plane in front of you with the smoke on and it will probably be just as bad !

At the end of the day , it gets dark .

allright!!!!!

I turned off some stuff and turned down a couple others and WOW - what a difference!!! I can fly like 100 times better now - night and day - thanks for the help!!! Even pulling off new maneuvers I've never tried. This thing is gonna save me some bucks!!

Go into the "physics" settings and make sure that you have helis set to "highest" , it might not be the default setting , but that's what you want .

At the end of the day , it gets dark .
