If you run with more oil than less, your motor outlasts you unless you break it in a crash. You'll never have to tear it down and do repairs on top ends, etc
neither do I Raja

When I strip my engines which may be for various reasons like trying a new piston or decoking (yes, Motul 710 does coke even at 66:1 ratio) the insides of the engine are dripping with residue oil from the last flight. This leads me to think I am still over-oiling at 66:1 ratio. But as I mentioned, I don't have time to do the testing with this oil although I suspect given the absence of wear on the bore and ring, 80:1 would work just fine. Don't forget at 80:1 I get to richen out the carbi even more. More fuel = more oil. You can't do this when running lots of oil. You have to run the mixture either spot on or very close to spot on. Lean means less oil and more heat.

This effect was very noticable to me when I first started off with running Motul 600 at 42:1. The engine tuned okay actually but when I tried it at 50:1 a signifiant difference to the overall engine smoothness was seen. This led me to try a richer oil mixture of 40:1. Sure enough, it was rougher. I then cut it to 55:1 and it was smoothed out nicely. 66:1 was as far as I got after trying 60:1 before I decided to settle on something that worked well with no risk to the engine. Subsequent strips have shown everything is good but lots of residue oil inside.

You see Highviz is running 90:1 Amsoil in his cameraships. This is where I should be I think.

yep - all depends on the oli

Before we ran HR1, we ran MC1, which is 100% synthetic at a MUCH higher ratio. It wasn't bad, just that there was a lot of carbon to scrape off the ports and off the dome of the head. The bearings liked the HR1 alot better too.
Yeah, don't get me started on the 4 stroke MX thing either. All my buddies have switched over. I'm not riding anymore, but still have my tricked out RM250 in the garage. I miss riding, but our riding areas disappear by the day now.
Anybody wanna make a trade on a tricked out RM250 set up for woods racing?? It's all fresh with professional suspension, motor, steering dampener, fresh rubber, etc. etc.??? I'll swap it even up for an Aurora!!! Did I just say that???

Oil wars

After break in 40:1 is safe for all synthetics. Lower than that makes the engine rather logy. Higher than 40:1 can be fine but now you better know what oil can take it and you better know the finer techniques of tuning.

Not really Ace, just get oil designed for leaner ratios and run as intended.
