ok i have a rcp 1100 kv and z20. im wanting to put the bigger motor to get more 3d out of it but i was wondering does anybody know if the z30 is more efficient than the rcp?

Anything is going to be more efficient than the RCP!
I have the Z-20 in my Hurricane and I purchased a Z-30 for my Trex 600.

I don't believe the Z30 will do much. I have been talking to a few guys because I have been looking for something a little more efficient, I have the RCP and the guys running the Z30 with the same setup as mine get the same flight time. I will be going for the new scorpion motor which looks better then both motors! if your RCP is setup properly it does very well.

yea but my concern is i have 2200 packs and it will eat them up... i was thinking about the scorpion because its supposed to be more efficient and have some more power... but i dont know which one that is lol

you can't have both, either fly the z20 and 2200mah packs, or upgrade motors and batteries, "NO"other motor will work on the 2200 mah! you will need to go to at least 2500mah 25c or A123 cells if you run more then a 1000kv motor! I fly the RCP on evo 2500 25c packs and get just over 4 minutes, packs are fairly warm if I fly hard.
the hurricane is designed for a entry to sport flyer on 2200mah!
even the scorpion motor will require more battery!

i havent looked into a123... would that be cheaper than buying bigger batteries? what would i need to do to convert?

You could try gearing down if you want to use a higher kv motor. For instance, replace the 42 tooth gear with the 61. I hear there is a 50 tooth one also but I haven't seen it yet.

I heard that it was more efficient to run a high kv motor with deep gearing than a lower kv motor with the same headspeed. I'm not 100% sure on this so it would be great if someone could weigh in on this thought. I've been contemplating running a deeper gearing with a higher kv motor myself.

I have a Scorpion 1600kv motor on back order and I'll be running it w/ Revco 15/68 gearing. This motor has a really low amp draw and is 1450w just shy of my Gaui 1100kv 1500w motor that I'm running on Revco 25/68 gearing. W/ the lower gearing my Hurricane should have more power and draw less current. I'll give an update on what improvements I get over all when ever my motor comes in. Scorpion also has a 1400kv motor that you could get away w/ running a Gaui 60t spur gear, but if you want run a kv any higher you'll need to get the Revco spur gear, it will also make it easy to run lower Kv motors also since you can get high tooth count pinions and w/ it's smaller pitch the gear's size is about right between the Gaui 48t & 60t spurs.

well if i replace the 42 with a 61t gear i will loose alot of headspeed... i do have the 50t gear but it still doesnt have much power... yea i was thinking what if i run a z30 with 90amp esc and have like 90%-95% tc but not sure if that would do and i dont want 2 spend the money on all of that if it doesnt do anything to help lol
