e-BEAM Beam E4 > Servo Issue - BEAM E4

I finished my BEAM E4 today and was able to hover it for the first time. Very impressive. ! More to come during the week.

I had a slight problem while performing the first motor run checks. I am using the Hitec HS-56HB on the cyclic and mounting it per instructions, the botton of both front servos almost touched the main gear more precisely the smallest part meant for the belt.

I thought it was really close but not touching it and after a quick run on the ground, I noticed the rubbing and it litterally fonded the botton of my two servos without damaging them or the main gear. I had to work out on a mod to place the servos a little bit backwards as the spacers provided were not sufficient. I was wondering if that also happens with the HS-65BHB or another servo.

Once mod performed, the hover was Very pleasant, stable and responsive too. I am using a Scorpion -8 motor with a 12 teeth pinion by the way, with Hitec HS-56HB on the cyclic, GY-401 and S9650 in the rudder.

I'm using HS65 servo on mine, I'm using the spacer just to be sure the pushrod lines up perfectly...

Do you have any picture of your actual setup? did you mount them on the correct side of the horizontal bar?

You must have them mounted upside down, cause there is no way mine will hit the gear.

No, I didn't. I have the servo positions just like the pictures in the manual which are just like the way you showed yours in the picture.

Do you use the HS-56HB or yours are HS-65HB ?

When I can, I will post a photo. But placing a larger spacer solves the issue and the heli is flying lovely.

In fact if we use the HS-56HB the rubbing with the main gear is innevitable. We do have to put so more spacers.

The HS-65HB does not have the same projection as the HS-56HB as we can easily see in the photos attached.

Yea I think a 65 would have been a better choice for you. The 56 and 65 are the same price.. For future reference, go with 65s on a 450 class heli. They will fit better and give you less trouble over time.

I plan on using 65mgs so when the inevitable crash occurs, I dont strip servo gears!

In reality I use both 56 or 65 in my 450 helis. They fit well with any 450 heli as a matter of fact, but I was not expecting this kind of "problem" with the BEAM. I just put the 56 on mine as they were available at my miscellaneous drawer... but I agree I'd be better of with the 65.
