Does anyone know how to use the Spartan 760 with the bluetooth interface. I just got the gyro and the usb cables are in short supply. No problem I have bluetooth on the computer. Power everything up and the computer does not see the gyro. Simply says no device in range.

Did the hold left rudder and flip gain switch to go into servo config. Still not seen. Any ideas

Thanks

bluetooth

After posting above question I look closely at the spartan web site. The blue link is comming soon.

This tends to make me think that it is not TRUE bluetooth but a radio interface that requires an external transceiver on the computer.

??????? Don't know ??????

The Blue-Link bluetooth module is optional. It attaches to the comms port of the ds760 and then you can connect to it via bluetooth from your PC and certain PDAs and mobile phones. Windows mobile software for PDAs will be released around the same time Blue-Link is becomes available and very likely Symbian version a little later.

We don't have any short term plans for Psion software. Our aim is to support some of the popular mobile phones first as a lot more people have phones than PDAs. Windows Mobile and Symbian will probably cover the largest chunk of PDAs and phones.

actually right now the iPhone sells more than any other decent mobile so whats the chance of using that for use with the spartan gyro ?

The SDK is free from Apple as well!

Thanks

I want to thank everyone for the answers. When I ordered the gyro my dealer told me the usb cables were a little hard to get at this time. I thought no problem I have bluetooth tablet computer.

Never thought that the bluetooth would not be in the gyro, but then why waste to space and weight for people that don't need it. Also extra cost

Building a RJX Extream 50 and can't wait to get it in the air

On making it work with the Iphone. I don't think that is possible. Apple made the bluetooth for phone headset only.. It will not even play music from the ipod section. Unless you have some major hacks it will not talk.

I believe the reason Apple does not use bluetooth for music is because the low transmission rate of bluetooth would cause too much degradation of the music. Simple data transfer will not pose the same problem.

LCD

Am I the only one who is thinking about the LCD display here. I can not believe we are focusing on Iphones when the LCD option has been out there for months and nothing has been said about it. As I see it, the LCD has been on the website for months and nothing has been released, ReadyHeli did not even know that was an option ( I did called them and asked them about it), so the Bluetooth connection will not happen in the near future. I posted a question here to Angelos about the LCD and nothing has been said about it, and believe me I am not the only one waiting for the LCD. If you are into Helis the problem is not the cost, it is all about practicality. 601/611, Solid G, you name it they all have it. Can you leave without it ? Sure you can, would it be convenient? Sure it would be.

I've seen the bluetooth option from laptop to gyro working a while ago now at UK event 3D Championship. Angelos was demoing the gyro and it was impressive thats for sure. I did say at the time to him he needs that to be included with it or as an add on. But its all about costs as he pointed out.

All I can say is very very neat no need to reboot the gyro or anything just send the data to the Gyro and hey presto it was working.

Wrong!!!

Reason why Apple doesn't allow Music via Bluetooth is its deal with the Music companies.

Funny enough Using the Free Apple SDK some one has made a way for the iPhone to Control the PS3 using Bluetooth.

Using the Free Apple SDK it is more than possible to create an iphone bluetooth Spartan gyro updater without Major hacks.

JimiLyon I think you can still set up the gyro using blinking light codes. I don't know if you knew it or not but you should be able to set it up with no other hardware.

You can set basic parameters with the light, such as travel endpoints, servo type, and gyro direction. But the advanced parameters such as tail suppression and stop, drift, etc. must have cable or other method.

Only support for Windows Mobile and Symbian is planned at present. As for the LCD is should be available later this summer. The huge demand for the ds760 means that I need to spend more of my time organising production and our R&D is a bit behind our original plans.
