Distracted by a friend while pre-flighting my 90,

I was getting ready to feel real flighty....

I grabbed the wand and got her hot,

Thinkin' , "Baby give me that shot...."

Of adrenaline I need so bad,"

But, instead she makes me do the.............

Blue Dust Boogie, all over the ground.............

Blue Dust Boogie,.....ow, ow ,ow.............

Hot starts suck. Wrong model (Rappy 50) while starting my Rappy 90......totally distracted, taken out of my game, as I call it, by a friend making conversation .

I usually am very deliberate in my pre-flight, to the point of being rude, in telling people to leave me alone until it is done. I have averted disaster many times this way. Well, at least corrected things that could have caused disaster, during pre-flight. We all have, it is routine. Operative word being ROUTINE.

Break that routine, and you might pay in dramtic way.

Today , I did. I let my guard down, happy to be at the field on a nice evening. It cost me a clutch.

I was holding the blade root , not the grip, it honked WOT as soon as it lit, half folded on my fingers (I was on the root not the grip), the wand popped out, starter hit the deck, I reached for the pinch valve on the carb line.

BLUE DUST BOOGIE. Drat.

How bad have your hot starts been??? This was scary enough to make my friend jump back , whilst I was trapped by the beast, reaching for the carb line. Just a minor pinch on my fingers, I wont ever hold anything bu t the grip from now on , I promise, but it hurt.

BLUE DUST BOOGIE.

Not me, but I don't dance. In fact, I'm so scared of the blue dust boogie I look at the throttle arm every time to make sure the carb is closed.

I hot started one recently but it was when I was setting it up and it was at about 20% throttle pinched the line and it was over but instead of holding the grip I had the blade right next to the grip so I got cut by the back of the blade as it folded.

my friend made a device that plugged into your throttle slot and it showed ur voltage on ur battery and it would beep when you were at idle, when it wasnt at idle for 5 sec it would start making a annoying sound so as long as you hear beeping it was all good

I landed my 600N, and hit engine kill, to check something, then decided to light it with my throttle hold off, problem was, I was still in "idle up" ... Bad idea, my first hot start, lucky I had a good hold of the rotorhead.. I reached over, and turned off the idleup switch.. It sure scared me... I now do a quick pre-flight, and havent had any probs since...

Clutch liner dust ....blue dust. When you hot start, the clutch liner dust covers everything.....
