Hi all, thanks for the help in the other thread. I am starting a new one with hopefully some progress with my scale project. I ordered everything today. Here is what I will be building:

- FunKey pre-painted Bell 222 in Red with retracts
- Sceadu Evo 50 with silver Quick UK head setup and the Hirobo
delrin main/counter gear and metal radius block.
- Hyper 50, Century Scale Muffler
- 9252s on the cyclic and throttle
- Logictech 6100 on the tail
- JOMAR GoSlow running 3 Hitec 225 servos on the retracts
- Duralite 4300 pack and 5.1 volt regulator
- AR7000 on the receiver

I am looking forward to this build and flying the model. I will try to update this thread with pics, ideas, etc as I go. I may also beg for help if I get stuck along the way

Thanks, looking forward to being in the scale forum more often - Jim

Hey Jim,
Since I am doing the same (Fuselage should be here today or tomorrow) I look forward to the pictures of the progress. I have ordered the exact same servos and 'slowgo' servo controller.

I will be mounting a Trex 600E in this setup.

When do you expect yours?

FYI...small world. I used to live in Provo.

I expect my stuff to all get here early next week. I havent heard back from EMS/JOMAR, but I placed the order today with them directly for the GoSlow so I imagine it should get here sometime next week. Anyway, I will try to keep things updated once stuff arrives.

Jim And Marlon...

Keep those build pic's coming..... and gadgetdude the 600E is going to be "SWEET" in yours.... I just test flew two of them last week and what a nice flying machine....Let me know how the fit goes.... I had one along side this one prior to the build and it certainly looks as if it will drop in pretty easy.... Stan

Here are a few pics, I have the Evo mechanics about done, just gotta setup the electronics and links. I spent a little time installing the retract units into the frame as well. Went very slick, going to try and do the retract servo trays tonight if I get a chance.

I did play around with the JOMAR GoSlow and my 3 Hitec 225 servos and love it! The GoSlow is really slick and you can get those retract servos moving at a snails pace if desired

I did notice that the throttle arm interferes with the Century scale muffler, so I will be using a clevis there to get things to fit (the search function is great, hehe).

Anyway, I plan to finish the tretracts this week and to begin flying the pod and boom this weekend to get it tuned and sorted before I install the fuse. I will post more pics when I get the retract servos in there

Does anyone know if the Century/Funkey Bell 222 Fuselage can be installed on a T-Rex 600N mechanics?
Which mods are required?

Thanks

It does fit, a buddy is doing a Trex 600 build thread in the 222 fuse right here and not much modification is needed:

I've both the T-Rex 600N and the Raptor 50.
Which do you suggest to use with the Bell 222 fuselage?

Thanks.

Hey ste981,

I have the build thread going on the 600N as mentioned.

http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t419660p1/

It fits VERY well. In the instructions for the Bell 222 they have the hole pattern layout for the raptor 50, evo 50 and century hawk. I assume it is only a matter of time before they add the 600N and other 50 size.

Both should fit...Which do you fly less??? Maybe put that in the fuse?

Hi taus,

my Raptor 50 is now for sale, because I broke 3 times the tail belt practicing basic 3d manouvres, so I prefer the TRex 600N with the rigid shaft transmission. My question: is it reliable to use a tail belt driven helicopter in a scale project?

YES, many have done it. Heck, I am doing it as well. I am just going to leave a little extra room at the end of the tail case area so i can adjust the boom as needed. It wont need more than a 1/4 inch breathing room.

On another topic, if you have gone through 3 Raptor belts in flight then there is something going on there - those belts should last almost forever. Either you run them too tight or too loose I would wager. I had raptor belts last for hundreds of flights and multiple crashes without replacement...

Anyway, back to the build

set1981,

It won't matter. Your torque tube can break, slip, pins come out, etc. I don't think you are better off with one over the other. I have had the raptor 50 for 4 years and never broke a belt...that does not mean it does not happen. I did have a belt break on me on my Hirobo GPH 346. I plan to fly my 600N sport many times before actually trying it in the fuse to make sure nothing seems to break.

I would check the belt, pullies, gear, and tention on your raptor 50. It should not be breaking belts.

I would not sell it for just that reason.

Ok guys,
I will install the Bell 222 on my Raptor 50, I know it better than the TREX since I'm flying it for over 2 years. The T-Rex is almost new for me, only few flights.

I'm currently have the rudder servo mounted on the tail boom, but if I'm not wrong there isn't enough space in the fuselage, so do I have to put it in the servo frame?
And what about the tail boom to be used? The standard lenght one or the long boom for the Raptor Titan?

There is room at the back of the fuse for the tail mounted servo, thats how it is on the Evo 50 as well. I believe that the standard Raptor boom is what works best as far as fit goes in these Fun-Key fuses.

And what about the tail case? I currently have the Kasama aluminium case, can I use it or have to come back to the original plastic one?
Does the tail case have to be secured to the fuse or not? Sorry but I've never seen the instructions for the Bell 222...

I dont know about the Kasama case, if its not much larger than stock it will fit. The tailcase isnt attached to the fuse, it just floats inside the boom and a little cap at the end. Some foam rubber donuts helps dampen and connect the boom to the fuse. I think you will find that with a scale heli there are no EXACT answers and many things need to be modded or worked on to fit as you like them to. Honestly, I would buy the fuse and then you will be able to trial fit things and see what may need cutting, changing, etc..
