Hi, I own a small aerial photography company and I'm looking at an EB for my fleet but cant find a place to purchase parts for it. Can anyone point to where I can find an online store that carries them?

Thanks

vibration

there are many other birds that will carry out camera with less vibration. Id get an electric, or a predator gasser. Varios are also good, and worth a look.

The Century and Vario are immune to vibration? I've also got an intermittent vibe in my 600e. Haven't seen an immune heli, myself.

kogibankole,

I was one of the bidders on your heli on ebay and I'm curious, did you have 2 of these birds?

Your e-bay auction states

Up for auction is my bergen extended boom gasser helicopter. The helicopter has never ever been crashed, and its in pristine condition. It comes ready to fly! Fill the tank, install a receiver, pull the starter and its good to go. The mechanics of this helicopter are super strong. I have never seen such a robust tail! The frames are made of G10 fiberglass which helps to absorb some of the vibrations from the gasoline engine. There is a Zenoah g26 installed and this engine makes more power than this helicopter needs. Here is manufacturers website. www.bergenrc.com They are located in Michigan and have great customer service. I have spoken to both Chris bergen and Larry Bergen several times on the phone, and they are top notch guys. I could start going into detail about how strong and durable this helicopter is but all I have to say is that its just a good Made in USA heli. The mechanics are super strong and they use almost all the same on the turbine version of this heli to lift 20lbs plus.

Also,

The helicopter is vibration free, the blade are balanced, fan; dial indicated, and there are no bent shafts to speak of since it has never ever been crashed.

I could not afford how high this auction went for the first heli, so I had to pass, but I would like to purchase the one that you says vibrates if it for sale cheap.

I noted that you had to buy replacement parts from you other post here,

from my experience with bergens, they have just too many parts that are expensive to replace
Was this for the second bird as well?

Let me know,

Thanks.

that heli took me a while to get the vibration out. It ended up being that there was slop in the bell hiller mixing arm. The inner diameter was off. The bearing was wobbling in the arm and caused the pitch to change inflight, so I would be in the air all smooth for a little bit, then come down to see that some mysterious vib started. With a high dollar heli like this, one should not have to worry about little things like that. So once I got everything worked out and smooth I sold it! Apart from that little issue, the heli was solid and handled well. It was very beefy indeed and the parts were durable.
Im just saying that you have to be on top of things when dealing with bergens, and there are other alternatives which will cause less stress. This bad bell hiller arm came like that form their shop out of tolerance and I ended up buying a new one with the bearings. If you like to tweek things till they are perfect then bergens are for you. Im used to flying mikado helis that once you set them up you don't have to worry about anything, plus the way it flew was not my style. I started to do 3D, and the bird was always getting left out. It did have gobbs of power though

kogibankole,

I have to disagree with you about tinkering with Bergens. Once you have them set up correctly they fly solid. With a large heli you need to check things and do maintenance. There should always be a pre or post flight check to make sure nothing has failed or is wearing out. If all the problem was is a bad bell hiller arm you should have spotted it when you checked your linkages after your flight. It must have been able to be wobbled if you moved it left or right. You need to be careful when flying helis because anything that goes wrong can end up hurting you or someone else.

Learn good safety and don't get distracted by others around you. Do pre or post flight checks. I like both because hanger rash can occur after you've gone over the heli from a post flight. I saved my Turbine in a pre flight when I noticed day light on my rudder ball link. It could have fallen off and I would have lost the tail. I really don't want to auto a Turbine down, especially if I was in the middle of a loop or roll. Always load test your batteries after a flight not before, because you can get a false reading after some recovery time.

Happy flying,
Lou

Hmmm, Sounds good.

I am comparing different birds, but don't know who or what to believe from all the posts here on runryder.

I see things like this, http://runryder.com/helicopter/t344042p1/ , with an $1800 kit vario frame not being drilled,

http://runryder.com/helicopter/t409721p1/ , with the wrong bolts and instructions for a $2100 predator condor,

http://runryder.com/helicopter/t420567p1/ , stripping tail gears in a $1400 kit (no engine) with the need to ensure proper shimming,

and now your concern about the need to keep an eye on the bell mixers that cause vibrations....

Maybe it's a common theme here that ALL heli's need due diligence.

Most people that have any of these birds (vario, MA, century) seem to be happy with their purchase, but there seems to be a very vocal minority that are not....

Have you owned a century/MA/vario to be able to compare their gas heli's to a bergen? I won't have the funds till later this summer, but would like to make an informed purchase when I do.

In your opinion, Mikado's are the way to go, Wish they made a gasser....SO I looked there as well.

yup...things happen. I was just giving my opinion. Every heli can have a problem. Heck even real helis and planes carrying people have problems. I least expected to see an MA stratus boom strike and disintegrate once. I would build another bergen Eb and slap on a Hansen Motor if I had all teh time and money. They are very strong helicopters, handle well, and they look cool at the same time. Talk about having presence in the air.
