Thunder Tiger Raptors 30-90 - Imperio > New 08 Raptors, What Would You Like ?

Surely Thunder Tiger R&D is designing something new. With the Trex 600N they probably want to regain their market share. If nothing else lets give them some ideas.

Sure there are other brands but its hard to beat the raptor parts availability.

Maybe go bigger? Raptor-120?

I'm all in for a R 50 Flybarless from the factory and affordable.
I think that would be a trex killer.

If anyone knows of whats in the works give us some info.

raptor

The truth told

Most people are just sheep they follow the Jason and alan types thinking if the buy what they fly it will make them a better pilot

theres nothing wrong with the way the raptor flys

Maybe a new canopy and some more bling as bling makes sales

or maybe these

Larger fuel tank
Metal head standard
better one way
larger bearings for the start shaft

I'd like to see a bunch of things:

Different head (with metal block) that tracks well and isn't pitchy. The R90 head tracks 1000 times better than the 50 head, must b something in the mixing ratios.

Bigger fuel tank

Removable bearing blocks with a 3rd bearing under the main gear, and thrust bearings

Thrust bearing tail grips, and tail hub that doesn't require an immediate upgrade.

Metal pulleys on the tail belt with TT option.

Canopy clip that doesn't come off in backwards flight

Other than those, the Raptor's a good heli. I even like the mechanical mixing.

A new frame design more like the raptor 60 with bearing blocks. I hate cracking the frame to get to the main shaft bearings.

Well there's not much wrong with the old Rappy.. but..

I'd say something like...
Take the mini titan head & scale it up..(metal version) which is brilliant
Attach that to a TT53 Redline powered E620 with it's ccpm layout. tube drive for the tail... and scaled up MT tail mechanics.
And you would have one awesome unit...
And then they could also do a lower cost plastic version, belt drive etc for entry level (e550 style) - Don't forget newbes need something to fly too..

And I wouldn't be suprised if they loose the Raptor name too (Like the mini Titan)... And come out with the Titan 30 & Titan 53 Redline... or something other than raptor..
At a guess

Oh, and don't forget a new canopy shape and of course decal set

I would like to see the following changes:

1. A frame that would be available in plastic, GF, or CF. With that arrangement removable bearings blocks like the 90 would be possible.

2. Lower control system like the E620. That is by far the best arrangement I have seen.

3. Head redesigned like the all new Kasama Srimok head design. That has easily adjustable bell-hiller mixing ratio so you can make it fly mild like the current raptor or wild like the T600N.

4. 50 size with 620mm blades is the perfect size and will definitely have the most sales.

5. Put the rudder servo up front where it is protected.

6. Arrange the transmission so that an optional shaft drive tail would be possible.

Raptor 90,

Holes bigger in the carbon frames to save weight,

10mm long balls on the swashplate to give 15 degrees of cyclic,

20mm longer flybar same as the freya to increase cyclic speed,

Bigger servo holes for the fitment of the latest generation jr servos

Mine flys ok

I don't quite understand why people want to give up one of the free-est running tail drive system in exchange for more weight, cost, and complexity. I will not buy a 50 unless it has the raptor 50 style tail drive system with the large pulley directly attached to the mainshaft.

I'm also a big fan of molded plastic frames. Less parts, less cost, light weight. A few minutes with a dremel is all it takes to remove the unnecessary flanges on the raptor 30/50 frames in order to make bearing changes quick and easy. Hopefully TT will no longer include those flanges on future molded frames.

How about a big Raptor gasser with 800mm blades?

Something that would fly for 20 minutes on 50 cents worth of gasoline.

Now your talking!! I hope there is more and more development on Gasser helicopters. Mainly in the engine option area. I'd love to see a 4 Stroke Gasser motor [like the new Saito gas motor] and lighter more powerful 2 stroke gas engines. The reworked Zenoah motors by Toxic Al and Hanson are really a must i feel to get you into the performance ball park. Gas motors last alot longer before rebuild and of course fuel is around 3 bucks a gallon with long flights.
I cant imagine the cost of running a 90 nitro on 30%.

Still love my Raptor 50 V2 as she is and have no plans on retiring her.

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly better than I can pilot them

A good solid CCPM system to make things lighter but still sturdy.

Also, add all of the Alan Szabo mods to it.

From there just do what they have been doing for years...make good reliable parts for a good price.

i can assure you i am not a sheep (despite my sir name)
ive had many raptors , there are only a couple main reasons i like the t-rex over the raptor. 1. the carbon frames you pay a couple huundred pounds for a raptor and is all you get is molded plastic frames. try explaining to joe public the diffrence between the plastic frames on that expensive heli and the plastic on the toy heli in toy r us?
which leads to reason 2 the price. its cheaper to buy than the raptor equivalant (raptor 50se compared to trex 600 pro)
and its cheaper to maintain simply because the parts ar cheaper per bag and on some bags you get two parts for the price of one.
3 it uses 3 servo ccpm which helps the life of the servos as they all work together .
4 its a nice heli to build.

LOL dont give up Dave, The market will be flooded with used Raptors if a new model comes out. Most of us are happy with Raptors or we wouldnt be here. I just figure they will create a new one so they can gain back some profits going to Align and others.

A giant would be sweet to see fly but I'm not done crashing so I doubt I would buy one.

And what you thinking about a new head, more "reactive" with a flybar under the blades ???
