| gadgetdude, I'm going to make you my PR person! Really... thanks so much for helping others out too. And thanks for another awesome video! I now link to that one from my Mini-Flash webpage! And boy, you have some nice helis! I'm a BIG plane guy and tried getting into helis a few years ago. Bought, built, flew and sold... all in one month. It was taking time away from my big electric r/c airplane hobby!
Elgreco... sorry I could not respond to your questions earlier... and thanks for the order! The software error issue some are experiencing is HOT on my To-Do list. It's actually pissing me off a bit. I can not find a computer around me that has this error... imagine that, therefore making it tough to troubleshoot. I just ran across this VB Setup Wizard (came with VB5) that is suppose to build an install file (cab file) that includes all required dlls, ocx, etc... I'm going to mess with that a bit this week and report back.
I also messed around with a rotating beacon simulator/driver (PIC) that mimics the rotation and flash of a real beacon. Rather than trying to shoe-horn this into the already working Mini-Flash controller, this would be an easy and cheap add-on to the Mini-Flash. It could consist of a small PCB that would hold a 8-pin PIC, and a couple resistors and a transistor for powering the beacon/LED. I'll hopefully work on it a bit more the next day or so and try to take a video to show you all. Stay tuned... and please keep the ideas rolling. Soon I'm going to spec out a new controller (no PC needed to program) and try to include as much as the features you all have mentioned (within reason of course... or should I say, within the bounds of the PIC and memory)
Now if you read all through that... I have a few question re: a rotating beacon...
Q1. What should the rotate/flash rate be on this new beacon? (once a second?)
Q2. How should it operate? Dim up to full, quick Flash, Dim down to off? OR simply Dim up to Full, then dim down to off?
I could also try to make these options programmable... we'll see.
