Radio - Futaba FASST > Futaba 12FG.. model match??

I have a DX7 and futaba 12FG 2.4.

OK...On the 12Fg the Tx sends a unique code to the Rx and binds the Rx to THAT TX....BUT

Does the Futaba have model match to prevent wrong model selection as you get with the Dx7 DSM Systems

thanks Brian

A buddy of mine actually flew a heli yesterday with the wrong model in his Futaba, luckily he sets up all of his heli's the same. Lucky for me and my DX7, I won't have to worry about that

Thanks for confirming that Guys...Futaba you need your ars$s kicked!

I just spent £750 on high end Radio (12Fg 2.4) that doesn't have Model Match when my nice cheap little DX7 HAS that safety feature built in..

Also no backlit Display/no case supplied either..very dissapointed ...not good enough Futaba. Should have waited for a 12X...

I have a 12FGH 2.4 with 5 heli's programmed into it.
If I have one heli selected and switch on another, I do not get a link on the heli.
(If Im showing my trex 450 on the TX and power up my raptor, the raptors receiver continues to blink red. As soon as I change models on the radio to the raptor, the receiver goes green.)
This is the same for all my helis.

Barney it sounds like YOU should have done your research better or just stuck with your DXXXXX7.

No kidden, eh?

The 12FGH has so many more features that make it above and beyond the 9303 I just replaced...Model Match is about the dumbest feature to get wrapped around the axle about.

I am interested in NoFear's experience. When I get some more receivers for my FASST system, I'll try it and see what develops.

Hi ErichF..Guys, Ive been around at this game for a long while now..(35yrs) and I really did think we had Finally seen an end to wrong model selection.

It's got to be one of the biggest safety advances along with no more more frequency pegs. It's a BIG model saver regarless of what any one says.

I did notice two conflicting posts above..and since I'm waiting for the new 608 2.4 Rx's to arrive, I cant test this for myself

Surely it wouldnt be that difficult for Futaba to add another digit or letter to signify the model selected into the bind/linkage procedure (But maybe Spektrum have a copywrite for this?)

The Rest of the Radio is super and is very close programing wise to my old 9Z WC2..but at the money some form of case carry/bag would have been nice. Heres hoping!

The DX7 if you do the extra bearing gimball mod (i.e. Quad brg sticks) and can live with limited programing, is actually very nice..
The reliability coupled with the Ar7000Rx's is 100%, and I clocked well over a 1000 flights + a couple hundred Sim hours..the biggest let down for me is no matter what I tried the throttle stick was always that tiny little bit sticky

still cant believe there is no model match built in to the new Futaba's

I will re-confirm tonight when I get home that if I have one model selected and power up the RX of another that the unselected model does not connect.

I have to make a tentative correction to my statement that the 12X MV will not have Model Match. I have read in another thread here that it will actually have MM, despite the fact that it's Module Based. I guess we'll know for sure when they finally release the darn thing.

I got tired of waiting for it, and that's why I just got the 12FGH.

Oh, and I don't program in the dark, so I could give a rat's pa-tooy about backlit LCD.

Okay sorry for the delay in verifying "model match" on the 12FGH.
I verified this past weekend that when I have one model selected on the TX and switch on different models RX, the RX does not connect and flashes a red led. As soon as I change the model on the TX to the correct model, the RX connects and the green steady led turns on.

EDIT: The original RX disconnects and starts flashing red when the model on the TX is changed.

RX I tested are 2 R607FS as well as my R6014FS.

Cheers,

NF

Thank goodness for that Andy...but then why is it just so hard to get confirmation of what is essentially a Major Safety feature..

Futaba really need to do be a little bit more informative as to what there systems are capable off. The UK distributers website leaves a lot to be desired and I could find no mention on Futaba USA either.

So yes.. Futaba gets the apology..but NOT...the humble Pie

Have you read their 611 manual. That is even more double dutch. lol. I do however totally agree with you. Futaba even commisioned someone to write a proper book on how to program the T9C tx, so that tells you something.

Just tried operating the same heli from two completely different programs, and was quite successful (12FG/2.4ghz/14 channel RX). nofear: Try turning off the RX and then selecting the wrong model in the TX, then turn on the RX.

I think it would have been a good feature, not essential, but nice. It would have saved me some embarrassment one time... I was at a fun-fly, and was buddy boxing with the kid when someone told me it was my turn to fly in the days competition. I hurried a bit too much, switching choppers, but not model memories. Throttle was almost identical, but the kids heli was mech CCPM and mine wasn't. Spooled up and it leaned over, blades hit the grass, bent the flybar, then throttle hold. They were kind enough to let me fly later on...

I will be getting my second 6014FS RX before the weekend. I'm gonna test this from a few angles to see what's up. It sounds like it half-way works, given certain conditions. My goal is to see if it will prevent practical model mismatches, IOW, TX on, select wrong model, TX off, back on, and then turn on wrong model.

The way NoFear did it, it seems that once the TX module links with an RX, it will not link with any other RX until it's power cycled. How that would work I don't know, as this is not a bi-directional system. I know that my XPS system will not link to another RX without a power cycle, but as a bi-directional system, that makes sense.

More to come...
