JR Heli Vibe - Airskipper - Sylphide - Venture > VIBE 50 120 OR 140 ECCPM /

I have a Vibe 50 and wanted any input as to whether it would be best to build it as 120 eccpm or 140 eccpm and use programmable mixes as the DX 7 radio I have doesn't accomodate the 140 set up.

I am guessing they (JR) think it best to use 120 as there are radio programming included in the manuel
Thanks

Ask Ray Stacy, in his review of the V90 in Model Aviation I believe he built it 140 degree and used the DX7 and mixes. I have the 9303 on order so I'm using 140, otherwise I probably would have just used 120 if I was running it on my 9c or dx7

I have been flying Vibe90 in 140 set-up with DX7 for a while. It is easy to do. I used one program mix. ELEV.->PITCH mix. value is going to different depends on servos. The way I did on mine. While I was holding Elev. stick to all the way to up, gave a mix value to bring the washout base(on the mail shaft) to the postion where it was before without elev. input. I did the same thing with down elev. input.

After that, I moved elev. stick up and down while I was looking at the washout base if it was moving up or down.
Once you do the same thing and if it moves, just play with mix value on up/down elev.

Don't forget to turn on the program mix in all flight modes. I don't have my TX with me now, so I can't give you my example.

Thanks for the input guys, is this a one time thing or do the mix values cahnge if for example the swash percentages change to increase pitch for example, as I assume they will do.

I used 140 on the Vibe 90 but that was with my now gone 10 X radio,
and I would only want to mess around with this if it gave a noticable improvement in flight performance

I will try to contact Ray Stacy but is there a link to his review anywhere please?

thanks

As long as you've got top quality digital servo's installed I doubt that you'll notice much difference between 120 and 140 ccpm.

Yeah, I've got JR8715 ccpm servo's installed in my Vibe 50, but I went 120 ccpm as my Futaba FF9 does'nt support 140 with programming in some mixing.

In my opinion I would rather keep it simple. JR's 120' CCPM mixing on the transmitters are rock solid so why bother with programmable mixes and more headaches. I'm sure the DX7 will do the 120' mixing just as good as your average 9X or 9303. We've been using 120' on our Sylphides and Venture .90's all these years without hassles. If you do the setup proper ensuring you don't use more than a few points sub-trim to get everything 90degrees and all that trust me 120' will be fine, especially on a 3D .50 heli!

I'd use 140 ccpm because:
- you can
- adding the one mix is little (one off) effort and its not going to add any noticable latency.

I doubt you'll tell the difference either way tho.

Sorry for the long note, I didn't have time to write a short one.

If you do contact Ray Stacy about his March 2008 Vibe review, please ask him why his article is so similar to my review from May 2006?
