I'm using "Desert Mesa" most of the time.

I'm running the graphics as high as I can (I have a poor video card). "Desert Mesa" gives me the highest FPS, for some reason.

I second WJ's motion The more the variety, the merrier..Besides, it will train you visually and mentally to get accustomed to different environments and backgrounds with different colors and light intensities (at least virtually). It would be more awesome if anybody can share panos of their local flying fields! Keep the custom ones comin'! Keeps the boredom down

The 3D fields in G4. Phoenix needs to try it.
But since we are limited to crappy photofields I guess the one called flying field is my favorite.

I never really understood why people prefer 3d fields. They will never feel as real as a well made photofield...

Uses way too many resources for my liking.

Completely opposite. Photoscenes certainly have real apprearance but its simply because its a photo of a real thing. Thats where the realism ends. A well rendered 3D field has depth and FEEL, something the photoscenes just dont have.

Time for a new computer . These sims are all on the lightweight end of 3D rendering. A 3D rendered field with good lighting would still be just a drop in the bucket compared to 3D flight simulators and 3D games. For what these sims cost, 3D rendered fields should be a requirement. Photoscenes are the lazy way out.

Las Vegas is still my favorite flying field on reflex and Phoenix. During the winter it makes me feel all nice and warm when I really freezing here in NY......

I'd like to see a beautiful spot in the mountains with a magnificent panorama. AFPD has such a wonderful scenery, in which you can dangle your soul

Because I don't fly at clubs, I much prefer to drive around until I find a nice backdrop then get out & fly, so I get bored of phoenix locations very quick. Might try doing one myself....I live in glorious north devon with steep ragged cliffs into the sea....might be worth shooting?

After using Phoenix for a couple of months, I find more custom panos coverted and made available for download by several innovative forum contributors in addition to my stock ones as "boredom busters". Now, I prefer the Australian (due to good, clear lighting) and latest version MordenSCHC (due to other pilots in the background giving you the "feeling" as if you're in the real flying field with your RC buddies) as well as the other Euro sceneries. Keep 'em comin!
