I don't know if this is true or now,but I figured it would get scrutiny enough here.

This is not a new idea, people have been doing it for years. It is real, however if you do this to an engine that has not been designed for it(every OEM engine) you will destroy it. Another disclamer, your not actually saving your self any money here your actually spending more. The money you spend on the energy to produce the hydrogen is actually going to cost more than the gasoline your saving. The only cost competitive vehicle your going to be able to drive right now is an electrically convereted car that is powered off of a windmill in your back yard.

the goal is to increase milage and reduce emmisions, not save money.

This looks better than those stupid fuel magnets. At any rate I always understood it takes more power to convert water to HHO than you get back, any conversion has some losses. So how can this increase gas mileage ??

It may be possible that it is more efficient.
The question is one of conversion efficiency compared to the combustion efficiency of gasoline (which is rather low).

When the water gets sucked into the engine cylinders, there is a chemical reaction that will vastly reduce fuel consumption.

This chemical process is often refered to as rust.

The scientifical community (under close supervision of Spork) is studying this.

another good one is an infomercial ad i saw on tv.

they sell for you the low price of 19.95! a piece of tin foil that you stick into your air intake. its supposed to cause some sort of vortex that makes the air all of a sudden go faster through the intake

never mind about the fact that the air would really need to be spinning before it even enters the intake, and that this little device would actually create more air flow resistance then anything. then wait will a piece of it breaks off and goes into your carb/motor.

you would be better off just putting in a better air filter, or just a clean one.

i increased my milage last spring by simply doing a little tunup. plugs, wires, air filter, oil change, tranny fluid change, and a gas additive to help clean everything up for a bit.

just doing that, i ended up with about a 10% increase in fuel economy, i could do another 10-20% if i were to take it easy on the gas pedal.

with this HHO thing, wouldn't you end up getting water in your oil?

Your not putting water as in "H2O" into your engine your putting "HHO" into your engine. While it does have the same chemical composition it also has a higher level of energy and will be combusted by the engine and can be used to produce power. Torches can use the stuff for cutting metal. But like I stated above, doing this has no advantage over just running gasoline in your car. If anything it might increase your NOx emissions.

but in the combustion process, does it not turn into water? i know it goes into the engine in the form of a gas.

yep it turns into water, most of it anyway.

Isnt HHO the same as H20? How could it be any different? Water has three states, liquid, gas and solid.

HHO is a gas.

H2O is a liquid.

ICE is a solid

H2O is water, either as a gas, liquid, or solid. HHO is the people selling this craps retarded name for the Hydrogen gas and Oxygen gas that is produced from electrolysis in their "invention". It would be similar to them selling you something they called Dihydrogen Monoxide(H20) to increase your mileage. They're counting on you being confused.

No! in high school my science teacher tried to show us this. He filled a balloon 1/3rd with hydrogen gas and the rest with Oxygen gas. Good thing I was in this class first thing in the morning, he only got to light one up. When the flame hit it, it blew most of the ceiling tiles out. It did not turn into a water balloon.

No!

Then whats it turn into? I'm pretty sure the reaction is:

2H + O -> H2O + Heat

The reason you didn't see a "water" balloon is because it formed water vapor. On another note, just because you have water in your engine doesnt mean its going to rust. Anytime you combust or oxidize ANY hydrocarbon one of your products is H20, yes including gasoline and diesel.

Go to a gas station.

Buy a gallon of gas and a gallon of bottled water.

Which one costs more?

If water is everywhere and free why can't I water my lawn on certain days?

the myth busters tried this thing and it didnt work.. they also tried other methods and i think only one worked but it was barely measurable.n some of the crap they tried got them worse gas mileage i think the magnet thing was one of them. and i know we arent talking about mileage but it just plain didnt work.. i supposed they couldve dun it wrong but some one wouldve said somethin by now.

HHO huh

Well I see alot of you saying this and that but have any of you actually made one and tried it? I have a 99' VW Jetta and I have one installed. I used a PWM to keep the amps from snowballing, run simply tap water as the city of kitchener puts enough electrolites in the water that I don't need to add any and with a few trial and errors I have a working model that I use. I am currently looking for anyone else that may have built one.
