I would get the 99SE manual, this heli could be a combination of both,, but the SE manual will fit this heli, better,, OR get both???

The SE or CT is very 3D capable, and can do both 3D, and FAI, It all depends on how you set it up..

Yep ask of a discount, and ask if he might have the parts laying around,, See if the LHS will call the guy, and see if he has the parts, maybe extra parts, and see if he knows what heli this started out as... Just some questions to ask,,,

xcellgasman101 ....thanks again! I'm going to print out this thread and outline all the questions I may have. I will also get the number from the LHS of the guy that has the heli for sale. The guy that has the heli for sale supposively went to the RC helicopter three day course MA use to have and learned how to fly and setup MA helicopters in three days. After that he bought the top of the line kit MA had at the time. In person the helicopter is just dusty and looks to be in great shape. Thanks again.

buy or trade for it NOW!!!

I had 5 of almost the same exact thing. Had been out for 10 years and the last time I moved, I just set them at the curb thinking I couldn't get parts anymore. The HUGEST mistake. Now I see you can still get parts and mine had every upgrade known to man at that time.
They are GREAT machines. That machine is heavily upgraded as well (or it may have been a Graphite Pro - which was VERY expensive when they came out). All of my upgrades were Bergen (G-10 frames, metal bearing blocks, metal head parts, torgue tube drives, etc. Seeing that almost made me cry when I think about leaving my old birds behind. Probably sitting in a landfill somewhere. Buy it, you won't regret it.

The engine looks to be the 61 ST2- the later version 3- needle one. Better get a manual for that - the check valve seems to be in the fuel feed line. would never run like that. Manual can be accessed online if you google it.
I'd buy it in a flash if I saw it at my LHS.

Update

Well I stopped by the hobby shop tonight on my way into work to look over the helicopter again. The two servo's that are in it right now are a NEH-531 on throttle and a NES-4131 up front. After talking to the guy in the hobby shop about the helicopter we found a bag of goodies that the seller is including in the sale. In the bag was another fiberglass canopy and some documentation. One of the documents is a manual that said 1003-CT. With that said and based on the picuture I've attached of the heli, is this a 1003-CT model? There was also some documents that look to be update instructions. Only thing that wasn't in the bag was build-up plans for this model showing all the parts and part numbers. The current canopy is primmed for painting and has a lexan window but is currently masked over. I told the guy at hobby shop to ask the seller of the helicopter if he would take $400 for the helicopter. He said he'll ask him and he seems to think that he will. The owner of the helicopter has more money than he knows what to do with and buys only the top of the line RC cars, buggies, helicopters or whatever RC related item he wants. Either way I'm going to get the helicopter. If I can get it for $400 than thats even a more awesome deal. I probably won't know anything about my offer until maybe tomorrow or next week sometime. Either way I'll keep you all updated. One last thing. What do I use to paint the canopy? Since it is fiberglass I would think you would need some type of flex agent in the paint. I may just take it to a paint shop and have it painted so it's done right. Thanks again for everyones help and input about this helicopter. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks!

xcellgasman101 .....No missing parts in the bag. I'm going to get all new servo's. Need suggestions on what to get. I want to start out right with this bird. Also what size main blades do I need and what are a good entry level set? So I need plans for a 1003-CT model then right? I'm getting so excited. I'm about to own my first X-cell helicopter! Can't wait.

I use the JR 8311, and 4735, on my birds,, As for the blade lengths,, It will depend on the length of the tail boom,, Is it 31.5" or 33" If it is 31.5, then no longer then 690 maybe 700, but if it is 33" boom the 710 to 720,, It probley has the 33" boom but measure it to make sure,, Yes,, get the plans for the CT, but then try to get the plans for the SE too,, as it has the SE servo tray on it,,.. That's some good information. To correctly measure the tailboom lenght do I measure only the aeras that are exposed like from the end of the airframe up to the rear tail gearbox housing? Thanks again!

No the boom goes into the boom clamp at the heli about 2" then all the way to where the tail rotor bolts to the boom clamps,, The easist way to mesure the boom is to loosen the 4 bolt at the boom mount clamp at the heli, then loosen the boom supports, and slide the boom out, then measure to the end where the tail rotor bolts to it's boom clamp.. Hope that makes sence... XGM/VGM

the CT 1003 has the same servo tray as the se. I think John you may be confusing this kit with the ST 1001 kit. it had the standard servo tray and the black main gear with\out the driven tail hub. This is for the most part a complete 1003 CT. the tail rotor linkage is the only thing i have seen in the pics that is not CT. it has a flex plate instead of the dog bone slider control . the SE did have a special slider assembly on the tail , metal tail box, and metal blade grips. this model does have the carbon frames that came on the SE where the CT came with the same frames but they were aluminum . So this is a mix of a few models but any whay you put it if you get it for 400 it is agreat deal and will make you a great flyer!!!!! If you have the typed instructions then the link to rchelibase\x-cell will give you all the isometric drawings you need to see how it is put together. Hope this helps Tom

I did figure that out last night after I did some research myself,, I didn't know that the CT 1003 had the SE servo tray, till I did some reasearch,, And your right,, I was thinking of the 1001,, See I learned something myself, trying to help someone else,, Cool... I had the RChelibase in my favs, but didn't look up the CT untill last night, That place is a wealth of info for the Xcell line of heli,, expecially the older versions... Thanks Tom for clearing that up for me,,, XGM/VGM

More great information guys. I really appreciate it. I received a little rumor tonight that the hobby shop that has the X-cell helicopter for sale closed their doors! I'll have to verify this Sunday when I'll see one of the guys that works there at the local RC car races. I hope this isn't true because I have 4 E-flite helicopters there on consignment. Also the guy that has this X-cell helicopter for sale also has this heli on consignment there. I'll find out more tomorrow or should I say later today. I'll keep ya posted.

That is a great model but set up like crap... as in fan shroud side supports the YS61 ST2 with the check valve etc (as has been noted by other members). Many parts are from the SE, the frames and servo tray prove that but the tail and even some arms attached to the flybar don't have the typical bling )gold anodizing) of the later version SE. It is an X-Cell-nothing more to be said (especially for that price), get it and that version flies excellent regardless of what newer stuff is out on the market.
