Miniature Aircraft Nitro/Gas Helicopters > X-Cell 60 Carbon Fiber ??

The LHS has a older x-cell 60 with carbon fiber airframe with I think a YS60 engine, no electronics or blades. They're asking $450 for it. Is $450 a good price. Needs a new canopy. Thanks!

I'm not sure what model number it is or if it's graphite or carbon fiber. I'll have to double check on that. I remember that the older x-cell 60's came with aluminum or graphite frames but don't think there was ever a carbon fiber air frame. Like I said I'll have to double check what the guy has the helicopter listed as and take a closer look at the heli. No matter what material the airframe is made of for $450 is the heli worth the investment? Are replacement parts still available? Thanks.

Yes part are still available for just about every Xcell heli made,, but it will make a differance on what heli it is, for that amount,, Like what upgrades it has, or doesn't have,, if you know what I mean,, XGM/VGM

If it is a graphite, then it is a carbon fiber,, the other was G-10 which is a fiberglass frame, or metal,, that is what Xcell has and still uses... G-10 is usually a white material, and carbon fiber is black, most of the time,,, Hope this helps..

Ask what upgrades it has,, like push pull on elevator, and collective, Length of tail boom, front pinion mod, driven tail, look to see if there is metal parts on the head or plastic, also on the airlons bellcranks, metal or plastic, elevator swing arm, swashplate anti-rotation arm, is it the stock arm or is it the newer style,, There is alot of questions that I would ask,, If you can,, Take some pic, and post them,, then we could help more,,, XGM/VGM

Here are some pictures of the X-cell 60 helicopter the LHS has on consignment that I took today. Still not sure what model number it is. It seems to have a metal head and it has "XL-Pro" engraved in it. The motor is a YS61. The guy that is selling it is looking for a Blade 400 and I have a Blade 400 on consignment at the same LHS. The LHS guy is going to talk to the guy that has the x-cell for sale and see if he will do a even trade for my Blade 400 3D RTF. What do you think? Deal or no Deal? Still need to figure what model number it is so I can check on a manual and possible replacement parts. Thanks!

Well the tail isn't a SE 1004, or blade grips, or washout, but it is still a really nice heli.. Great for 3D, or FAI, Like I said,, it is one of MA nicest ships out there, and parts are still available,,
It might be a CT that someone has upgraded, not for sure, but It does have alot of the SE upgrades,,, just not all of them,,,,, Maybe it was crashed at one time, then used the cheaper parts to put it back together??? But it is a nice looking heli,, well except for the canopy, but it can be repainted,,,,,,I think it would be a great investment..IMHO.. Expecially if he will trade heli for heli... Good luck,, keep us informed,, XGM/VGM

xcellgasman101 .....Thanks for the feedback. I'm still learning to fly but currently able to hover in all directions. I'm looking down the road when I'm ready/wanting a bigger heli and this X-cell cought my eye at the LHS. Would this heli be a good transition from a Blade 400 getting back into nitro heli's? I just would hate to get this X-cell and find my-self in over my head and regret it down the road. I guess I looked at this X-cell as an investment for the price! What do you think? Also...does someone still sell canopies for this helicopter? Thanks again!

Yes you can get part almost anywhere,, but NOW I must tell you,, Xcell parts do cost,, but if you are hovering the 400 in all directions, then I would say you wont have any trouble flying this heli,, it will be alot more stable.. the bigger the heli, the more stable it will be.. Yes I personally think it would be a good investment.. Good luck,, keep us informed,, XGM/VGM

Also, I must tell you,, there are some mistakes on this heli,, the front shroud mount is upside down, and the one on the other side is missing,, So I would really look it over,, print out the plans that I posted, take them with you, and really look it over... XGM/VGM

xcellgasman101.....Thanks again! I'll have to print out the plans and take a better look at the heli! I just don't want to pass up a good deal if it is one but then again I don't want to get in over my head. My other option was to just waint until I can fly my 400 good and then get a 50 size nitro heli! We'll see!

Your welcome,, any time,,
Ya, the only drawback to MA is part cost,, It can get expencive to fix, if you crash, and time comsumming, But MA makes some of the nicest and best flying helis on the market, but you know better about what you can afford, but for $450.00 dollars, that's cheap for a Xcell 99 SE with engine, and some servo's,, keep us informed on how things are going,, Good Luck,, XGM/VGM

I'll have to add out how much the parts would be to get this in the air. I was planing on using my DX6i radio with this? The Dx6i should do the job right? Only thing with parts is I'll have to order everything on-line. The LHS around here don't carry any MA parts at all. That is another thing I should consider. Parts availability! Thanks!

That tail will not 3D - mine broke off in flight!

It looks very tempting to buy but consider that model as of the past and the New Models as major upgrades. My advice for complete satisfaction is to get the New Xcell Fury.
