| We fly on conservation land that the state lets us use for a nominal fee. We have been there for over 20 years +. I have been a member for over 10 years and I have never seen destruction like what some punks did to our field over the winter. http://107th.org/Coppermine/thumbnails.php?album=2 Take a look
We have a problem with trail bikes getting in over the summer months and call the Environmental Police on them all the time. Some of them have their bikes confiscated. They tear our runway up when no one is there and it cost's us a fortune every year to fix it and it sucks.
We can't put anything permanent down because it is conservation land and could possibly have an effect on the environment. So we use industrial carpeting that works great and needs to be fixed from time from normal wear. We are exploring some environmental epoxy that could be used as a semi-permanent runway and have asked the state permission to put an asphalt runway. (We would have to take it up if we got kicked out of course)but we need to stop these vandals somehow.
There is a gate way down the other end of the land and the people working on the land left it open and that is how cars got in and did some serious damage to the rug. They broke out benches, awning, chairs and it will cost the members about $2000 to get it back to flying condition. It's tough to keep people out but is sucks when punks do something like this for their fun.
Any way we will get it back together and be flying every kind of aircraft again soon. But at what cost to us.
Any way I just wanted to vent and show some of the damage these punks have for our field. We will have an open house on June 1st and all are welcome to come
