Heard a bunch about these, but not going to buy one without seeing one in person.

Anyone have one in the DFW area?

This is probably the main reason I don't own one of these...Never seen one in person and never seen one fly.

Not in the DFW area, but a "few" miles south, and I have an Xtreem 50. Very nice heli, and it flys really well. However, I really don't want to crash it, and if you ever see one up close, you'll understand...high parts count and the kit is expensive, but I haven't priced parts.

You really think it's a high parts count? I'm putting one together right now, and it does not seem too bad, but then all I have to compare it to is my pred and hawk. If you want high parts count, look at an SJM 400 tail.......

Yes, I think it's a high parts count compared to the other helis I am also flying, the Compass Knight 3D. It's also quite a bit more expensive than the K3D, but it does fly more to my tastes, and I think the Xtreem has a better rotor head. However, I think I've found the thing on the K3D head that effects the flight performance, and I am working on it.

IMO the Xtreme 50 doesn't really have any more parts than the K3d or the 600N. The one exception to that is the fully adjustable head. Neither the K3D or the 600N has the range of adjustments that the X50 has. The tail is a very simple design and works great.

Gary, come on...the landing gear alone has about four times as many parts comparatively. The control system has more parts, and the frame has a few more parts. Yes, the rotor head has a greater range of adjustment on the mixers, but that is it. By the way, the metal Century heads have had the same adjustability (programable if you will) for a long time, so it's nothing new. The thing that I am experimenting with on the K3D rotor head, is the delta angle, and that is set a 0 on the Xtreem and non adjustable. It's really not adjustable on the K3D either, but because of the way it is built, it can be modified easily.

The K3D may have a few less parts, but the I have no problem having to replace a few struts on the landing gear rather than having to replace the entire gear if you happen to hit terra firma a little hard. Plus you can have 3 sets of struts for less than the cost of a complete gear set for the K3D.

The K3D is a fine helicopter, but for my style of flying the X50 suits me better. I have it set for a very quick cyclic rate now with very smooth and stable FFF. But I can get it quicker if I so desire, at the expense of some stability.

Gary, Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to bad mouth the Xtreem in any way, just discuss the facts. I looked at your heli at Mayday, and except for the flybar paddles, I have my heli's head setup just like yours. I'm using the stock paddles on both my Xtreem and the K3D, and with the stock paddles, the K3D is faster on cyclic. I'm going to try some lighter and longer paddles on my Xtreem the next time I fly it.
