Hells Yea!!! I fly my V4 to death. Just Modded It to use the 15c 740Mah Airhog Packs. (10 bucks with a charger) I have 6 of them and that keeps me going all day. Perfect weight and great flight times. Not bad for 10 bucks.

I break mine out once in a while and fly around the garage or basement. Kind of spoiled by the trex 450.

Had a lot of flights on mine (still stock with the NiMh Birdseeds) indoors over the past winter.

Yes. I have a V2 that I fly around the living room when not flying the bigger stuff outside. Once dialed-in it's a great little heli. Using 1200 mAh 2 cell lipos with a park 370 brushless motor on the main and the stock tail motor. It's really good for practicing precision hovering maneuvers - if you can do it on the HB, you can do it on the bigger helis no problem.

Oh yeah! I'm flying mine all of the time. It's a great little heli. I love it's size, and now I am teaching my son to fly on it and he has done really well. He's 11.

I'm worried about parts though... cause I know that soon parts will not be available. My HB started as a V2 and eventually became a separates setup and then a V4.

My name is wannaflyguy and I approved this message!

I dusted mine off 2 weeks ago. Ran it into the wall in the garage. Got new blades, learned I ordered the wrong ones then got the right ones. One company that I got the parts had body + engine onl for $30 so if I total my FP, I can regbuild cheap. Flew the FP outside w/ no wind. Man, Mine is squirrly. This is my first FP heli so I'm not used to having to watch my head speed. I came in and flaired and almost dumped it. You guys set a throttle up so you can't drop your head speed? right after that, I ran my nitro 30 Raptor. Bearings broke after the 2nd flight. Guess it did not survive storage for the last 2 years. I'm ready to get a collective Pitch electric after this morning.

All the time

I'm still a beginner and fly it outside all the time. Mainly to practice my orientations and some slow FF.

OK, so I guess most if not all the other Hummingbird Fixed pitch guys are just hovering w/ it. I"ll just hold onto it for those purposes then. Trying some forward flight yet again, it was pitching up so much and dumped in the grass and survived several times. Just slowing it down and flying it in very slow hovering forward flight it seems to be better at. My 2 cell LiPo never would get off the ground so I just use my 2 NiMh birdseeds.

nice forward flight charactoristics. Mine will freak out when I take it into forward flight. Pitch up, tail come out on me, you name it. My stock gyro (GWS gyro) is set to 50 percent.
Maybe I should video tape it to show how bad it is and look for suggestions?

I've a HB V3 that does hover and forward-flight ok - for a FP heli.
But there's almost nothing stock left of the original :-)
What it took: high head speed, wooden blades/stiff head, good DD tail motor with good ESC, and Futaba HH gyro. The tail doesn't move unless you want it to ;-) LOL
If you want to buy it, PM me, I'm selling it cheap :-)

I fly my modded HBFP almost every day in tha back yard. I learned nose-in and all orientations of skids-down flying with the FP.

I'll probably always keep and fly the FP for relaxation no matter how many CPs I end-up with.

hi

i had a project i wanted to work on and came across the $30.00 closeout Century is having on the hummingbirds

a few weeks before i got the chance to see a Hirobo Quark flying and
after seeing how amazing the Quark is flying , and looking one over very carefully at the LHS , i got to thinking it would be a fun project to try and apply what Hirobo has done on the Quark , to a Century Hummingbird both the CP and the FP

the most obvious thing is the offest flybar and since it was the most involved mod i left it for last , and worked on all the other changes i could , i went over all the links and made them all silky smooth and i played around with flybar lengths and weights , higher headspeeds , better servos , and it was interesting because the HB still did not fly anywhere near as nice as the Quark i had seen

this left me thinking about how the Quarks flybar is setup like the stabilizers used on the small coaxials , it is linked to the swash and it has paddles like a flybar , but it is also very heavy and offset like a stabilizer , it seemed to really be a hybrid between the two

i thought about moding the stock HB hub to get the 45 degree twist , but soon realized i would probably just be wasting my time and decided the thing to do would be to just scratch build one from some 3/8"alloy bar stock i had

here is a photo of the stock HB hub on the right and the new hub on the left

and this shows the new hub installed

this last photo shows the offset from overhead

so with the new hub and flybar weights the difference is night and day , the machine lifts straight up on takeoff and you can just park it in the air and it will hang there , but it can still cut nice circuits , figure "8"s and stall turns , i won't hazard to say if it is as good as the Quark , but i will say it is a huge improvement over the stock HB , really amazing to see the change the offset hub made on the stability of this machine

i have been flying it both with and without the flybar weights and it is very fun for the back yard

i posted this in the Quark forum a while ago , and just saw there are still some HB fliers , so i thought i would post here too , dana

very interesting post copperclad.

Might have to try that mod on my HB as well ( got the tools, might as well )

I'm still flying my HB FP on a regular basis, got a bunch of HBFP elite parts that I'm going to use in a Guru Z frame.
