What do you guys think.
I think for 100.00 dollars less it is a better option.

Only if you're into pulling off a rock solid hover, lol
For 3d the v-bar is miles ahead.

Yea some that have tried the Rigid system all commmented that the tail portion of the heli command was weak at best. And yes the Vstabi is far more tunable for sure.

...Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

Helicommand rigid with the pc cable is only ~$50 cheaper. I've been playing with one on a flybarless 10s Trex600 for a few weeks now and am slowly getting it dialed in.

Like Shawn says, the tail gyro is not the greatest, like a 401 at best. I think the next version will lose the positioning mode (which is pretty useless imop) and gain a better (611-like) tail gyro. Probably worth waiting for the new version to come out (next couple of months?).

One thing I like about Helicommand rigid is it gives you the ability to switch in-flight from rigid mode to horizontal mode (auto stablising) if you get into trouble. Sort of like a panic button. I still have a lot more testing to do to see if this works well or not.

So far, it's been fun to play with!

Cheers,

Tom C

Is there a new ver. of the rigid coming out in a couple of months.

Sounds like Helicommand would work better on my AP Logo 10.

I am also interested in it for my Logo 10 to learn to fly better.

So is the V-bar better for a beginner or expert.

Greg

Thankyou for your input on this

I'm surprised that the V-bar doesn't have the stability option like the HC. It would be nothing more than a software option.

rerazor,

You are probably right. I think that the V-bar is more aimed at 3D guys who do not want, or need, the auto-stability option.

Imop in the future we will probably see flybarless systems that offer multiple modes (3D, scale, Air Photography, beginner/learning). All at probably 1/2 the curent prices as well!

gtxkid,

The HC system sounds like it might be a better option for you, esp. for AP work. I have not played with the stability option enough to really say how useful it as a learning platform. If you do buy it make sure to spend a little more and get the rigid version with the software/cables. That way you are able to use it with or without a flybar. I initialy set up and tested mine with a flybar and the stability mode (HC calls it horiz. mode) worked fine.

I'm not sure when the newer HC versions will be out. I'm guessing within a couple of months. The current version seems ok for sport/light 3D flying. Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Tom C

I bought the rigid and have it now, it came yesterday.
Will use it on my regular Logo 10 3D heli to play with and then put it on the AP Logo.
I will need to become a beter flyer this summer then i will buy probly the 600 with V-bar.
Will look into buying a flybarlees head for one of my logo's.
Might just be cheeper to buy anouther heli and sell off all of my flybar parts with a lot of extra backup spairs.

I just ordered the HC rigid and I feel like a kid waiting for father christmas to arrive!

Can those who have used the HC rigid share their thoughts on smoothing out cyclic response on a flybarless head with the HC software? I'd like to use it in combination with the Logo600 flybarless head for video work and have heard reports that the cyclic can be twitchy. I assume this can be dialled down but I'm just wondering to what extent.

Greg,

I'd hang onto your flybar head/spares just in case you find that you do not like the flybarless setup or have an accident and damage the flybarless electronics. Having these spares around will allow you to get flying with a flybar again in a hurry.

Griffo,

Two best things to stop twitchyness with HC rigid is to bring your servo holes in a few mm as per mikado flybarless instructions and also do not dial in more cyclic travel (in the HC mixing tab) than you need for your style of flying. Because the heli is so much more agile without a flybar you can get away with a little less cyclic imop. HC support is supposed to be posting sample files for different heli's and applications on their webpages soon.

Good luck guys and cheers,
TomC
