What is the secret to replacing the main belt for the tail blades? Specifically, how do you get the belt over the gear in the frame? Do you have to seperate the helicopter frame and slide the new belt over the top of the drive shaft somehow? I have been reading this thread for a while and not read of anyone changing the belt yet. Lucky me.

Belt

There should be a Tail Drive Shaft Lower Bearing Block/Mount holding the Tail Drive Gear/Pulley Assembly that can be removed by taking out four screws. I haven't tried it yet, but I looked at it and it may be possible to change the belt without taking apart the frame. It doesn't make sense to have to take the whole frame apart to replace a $3 part. Let me know if it works. Good Luck.

Shhh, don't tell the wife.

Gooberseptember,

Thanks for the comment, but my wife found out. She's ok with it now, but it took buying a new kitchen a table, four chairs, and two garage cabinets to get us square. LOL

I see the 4 screws you were talking about. The bottom tail belt shaft mounting bracket mount was hidden above the receiver. I would rather remove 4 screws than 40. lol Unfortunately I am getting more experience as a helicopter mechanic than a pilot lately.
