I was considering buying a pair of the Tempest Blade Grips for my 10S, 710 bladed, Neu 1521 1.5Y/F equipped IonX. I know the stock grips work fine but are the Tempest grips a significant improvement over stock?

They are very nice. You would have to run them with the Tempest head and 690 blades. They are about 20mm longer then the Extreme Head and Grips.

Yep, I don't think you can change just the grips. You need to change the whole head. Probably not worth it.

The whole tempest head is quite a bit heavier than the stock Ion headworks. I've flown both the FAI and 3d tempest heads on Ion's before. Did not see enough, if any, difference to justify the extra weight.

im using the metal grips on my razor (think its the same head block as yours)and all that was needed other than the grip assembley was a different spindle shaft. i went to the metal grips mainly because im a machinest and and it seemed natural and secondley almost every time i would smash it into the ground the trailing edge of one or both of the blades would slice into the plastic grip. i have also found that the talk of the metal grips being harder on bearings, etc. does not appear to be true. i have tons of time on mine and they are still perfect as is the rest of the heli

you can use the pro grips with the regular head.
i think they are the same grip as the tempest, just a shorter arm is on the pro grips..
