e-Align T-REX 450-500-600 > T-REX 450 Great lipo for not much $

I got one of these, along with a couple other things in the same order:

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/...?idProduct=2045

In short, it is the most powerful lipo I have ever flown. I've been running it on my 450SE, with a Medusa 28-32-3400 13T pinion, and also on my MiniTitan, JGF 500TH motor, 14T pinion. This battery really puts out the current while maintaining voltage. I can tell this because: A) the power in flight is awesome and B) after what was my normal flight time of 5:30, the pack is discharged to the tune of 2100mAh (not kidding). There was no big drop off in power at the end of the flight, so I was very surprised at how much the battery took back. No puffing, not even very warm. I've flown this pack about 20 flights so far- still excellent. This is a great deal, I think I will plan to get a couple more. Might see if they have any 6S packs for the 600.

2200mAh lipo, a bit larger/heavier than the FlightPower evos or TP Xtremes, but not indecently heavy (probably like a KongPower or AirThunder, but I have not personally seen one of those in the 450-size).

"buy cheap, buy twice"? this pack has outperformed my flightpowers, thunderpowers, and Aligns by far. Worth the money in every way, just my experience thus far.

Never, ever, ever, ever give up.

A lot of the guys at the field have been using these purple packs for some time in their planks. They say that they hold up great, but I have just chalked it up to the fact that they aren't running any high current apps. They do a group buy every month for these batteries and the HXT900 servos (these two things are basically the life-blood of our club) and will probably pick up a few packs on the next round.

I'm interested to see the performance as you rack up more flights-keep this thread updated please.

IMHO 20 flights is not enough flights to get a good idea of a good/bad battery. I could have sworn my 22C align was an awsome battery after about the 5th flight, but on the 10th flight it puffed. Report back when you get to the 100 flight range. Also what kind of flying are you doing? And finally I'd say for a true test put that 430XL motor on it and see what happens. My expierence that motor is a battery killer, don't know if it is unefficient or what. It sure eats lower discharge or weak batteries! Would be cool to find these are good packs. Please report back as you get more flights on it and let us know.

I fly theese packs in my trex 450SE equipped with a JGF500TH with 15T putting the HS around 3500 RPM.

I fly alot of quick and hard tictocs and travelling flips with them and I cant say that i go easy on them. Flighttime is about 4:30 and I put back approx.1600 mAh every time. I would guess that they have about 40 cycles now and still going strong. I actually tried theese one flight and a new equivalent flightpower the flight after and didnt notice any difference. This was maybe 10-15 cycles ago.

The packs have gotten a little soft, but it is nothing that worries me yet. I really like theese and will buy more. Oh and theese are the blue ones from an earlier generation, got two new purple ones which performs even better.

I agree that 20 flights is only early in the testing for these packs and I am not running a data logger or otherwise recording info other than informally. My Align 22C packs puffed in 10 flights, but were pretty good up until then. This pack is more powerful, shows no sign of deterioration, and I'm flying it harder.

I fly pretty hard- lots of tic-tocs, continuous flips, hard climb outs. I will tell you that this pack is faring better than the TP extreme V1 packs did (either 2070mAh or 2200mAh versions of those).

Hey, for the price if they poop out after 50 cyles, Its a bargain. Can anyone honestly say that with the higher-priced lipos, flown hard, that they get 100+ cycles on them? maybe, but I'd bet they all begin to show their age at around 50 or 80 cycles to the point where flying them becomes less than satisfying and you want to replace them with fresh packs anyway.

Shipping from Hong Kong was about 1.5 weeks (I went the cheapest shipping option).

Hey, just info for you. Hextronics makes the cells, they have been in the lipo business for a pretty long time, and are improving their products.

Again, most powerful pack I have ever flown, for $36.00 plus shipping. Not bad.

Never, ever, ever, ever give up.

I have used two of the hexitronics (blue) lipo's and after 30-40 flights, I had to retire them due to puffing. Early usage produced quality results but the power declined significantly after ~40 flights. I have purchased many lower priced batteries and have finally acquiesced to the adage "buy cheap, buy twice (or trice), buy quality, buy once." I now fly Thunder Power and Air Thunder's. In my experience, both of these perform the same.

You said $36 plus shipping but the link goes to $26.95. Even better. Either way looks cheap enough to give them a try.
Do these guys have a warehouse in the US now? I seem to remember seeing that somewhere but I could be wrong.

Those batteries are crap, run'em a few more flight you'll see ...they puff more than my stoner roommate did in college.

Hey, stocky you lazy a$$, heres the info

My mistake, about $27.00 plus shipping which is ~$10.00 (slow method), or double that for express. So about ~$37.00 shipped.

Well, like I said, I like this pack so far. I just bought a brand new FlightPower EVO25 pack for the Trex/MiniT, so we'll see how they compare in the long run.

More later.

For comparison (by feel only) I just got back from a couple flights on the 600 and the 450. Flew the new FlightPower Evo25 on the 450- and my impression is that the FP is not as powerful as the Hextronics vII per the link above. The FP is lighter too, so there should have been some advantage. Not knocking the FP, its a good pack, but it'll be interesting to see how these two stack up going forward here.

Oh, and finally getting comfortable flying inverted tail-first circles and figure 8's. Fun!

How many flights on the evo? My expierence from the evos is that they take 10-15 flights before they come up to their full potential. When I got my first one I was actually a little disappointed cause it was kind of gutless. Not bad but not what I expected, it sure came alive around 15 flights!

Yup, I was hoping someone would call me on that. I'll retract what I said; that FP is brand new, so give it a few cycles and we'll see what she can do.

Tonic,

It states "All packs guarenteed against swelling/puffing or substantial capacity loss". Have you tried to get replacement packs? Not saying it will help but it's worth a shot.

Nate,

I bought two of those 2200's and four servos. One of the servos did not work so I sent it back, they confirmed that they received it and then stated they would refund (they did not), then they would replace (they did not) and then I'd have a credit(the never showed up on my account). Then they changed their name from United Hobby about the time the batteries puffed. This is all common knowledge about these guys ..."if you have a problem, you own it"
