e-Electric Conversions > A123 conformal pack coversion from LiPo in my Blue Thunder

I have a 1/6 scale Blue Thunder that is flying with T-Rex mechanics using the Align RCM-BL75G 75A Brushless ESC, the 600L Brushless motor and the REC-B3X External BEC. It's currently flying on a 6s Evo 4900mah pack. I want to switch over to a 7s2p 4600mah A123 pack. Please let me know if this is a working change or if not what problems I'm likely to have. Being able to build and install a pack that conforms to the available shape and space within this model and charge the packs in place without fear of a conflagration are driving this change. Sorry for the rookie question, but I have a lot of $$ tied up in this heli and want to get it right. TIA for any helpful response.

Put the first flights with the 7S2P A123 4600mah pack on the Blue Thunder yesterday and even with the added weight, it felt responsive and easy on the sticks with plenty of power. Logged an average of 7 minutes flying time per flight, which is only about 30sec less than the EVO 6S 4900mah pack that the A123's replaced. I have no concerns now about charging the flight pack in the heli.

A few pics of Murphy and the female JAFO in the cockpit...........

So how did you build your packs? Im intrested because Im doing a conversion on a Raven. Id like to use the "tubes" but they are too long. Making a brick out of new loose cells, from MEC, is a problem....
