| I should be getting my AstroFlight tomorrow, but who knows when I'll get to fly with it, because it's snowing here in Connecticut. I can only compare it to the stock setup, because this is the first brushless motor I've purchased, so I'm sure that I'll be very happy with it.
I wrote to Roy (the guy that started the thread on the AstroFlight motor on RC groups) to see if he had a chance to compare the motors, and he said,
"No, I never had the opportunity to drag race my friend's Hacker. He kept
"forgetting" to bring his and I sold mine to help finance a nitro
helicopter. I was able to fly his helo before I started testing motors for
Bob. His Hacker did seem to climb a little faster but mine was a lot faster
in fast forward flight and was much more responsive. My Astro was also
flying about 1 minute longer. The Hacker may have slightly more punch but
the Astro much smaller and lighter. Voyagers have such a high disk loading
that losing as much weight as possible is very important to this machine.
Fred Bronk now has both motors and will be doing a comparison soon."
If my wife finds out how much these things cost, she's gonna kill me!!! |
