| Hi Tankdirt, i flew one of these around for a year, before i sold it to my dad, who has been flying it for the last 2 years. Firstly let me say i loved that heli,,, but you wanna hear the bad stuff, so ill oblige... and tell ya how i got around it. From the top down.
The head is a little loose on the mainshaft, after a few flights, i shimmed mine with the thinnest piece of copper sheet i could find,,,it was so small it was not really worth doing in the end. Some people dont like the little bit of play at the mixer arms,, didnt worry me one bit. The old style blade grip arms were a bit flimsy,, ie, didnt hold up in a crash,, but they have stronger ones now, that are a little better( crashing, is crashing!). The bearings in the head arnt of the very highest quality, but keep em clean and oiled and they do juss fine. The plastic ball links dont have the same life expectancy of other brands, so after about 60/70 flights i went through and replaced them,,(a whole 4 bucks!) The swash plate is a little floppy on the bearing, but still much less so than say the trex 600n swash. So no worries really there. I never had any dramas with main gears stripping,,, for that to be a problem, the gear mesh must be miles out. One genuine gripe is the soft metal that the start shaft is made out of. After about a hundred starts, the one way bearing in the clutch started to pit the start shaft,, no biggie,, another 4 buck part,, but you have to drop the motor to get to it.
Thats about all the dramas we have had with ours, if you could call em that, so for a 500 dollar 90, id say go for it!
A couple of things you might like to know, are, the flybar ratio out of the box is set for stable, not 3d. It will do 3d ok, but much better if ya change ya ratios around to get more swash input to the blade. Another is ya have to go over the whole heli and check that the bolts are all loctited down tight, but ya know that all ready. My kit arrived from the states with a bent mainshaft,, 10 bucks and 4 days later all sorted. Ghobee sends stuff to here in AUS, in about 4 working days, which is pretty darn fast.
Hope ya get one and enjoy it bro!, CHRIS. Heres a couple of pics of mine and a review 50. If ya got any questions, drop us a pm, CHEERS.
