I've done some electronics, but not any home made recievers, a person has asked me to make an FM reciever for them to recieve a beacons signal (will be using a yagi antenna)

I think I have found a suitable circuit, but I need to alter the RF tuned circuit part, how do I calculate the required capacitor resistor combo for a frequency of 173MHz?

First of all make sure that your friend's beacon antenna has at list 24 Db amplifier. before signal goes to receiver.
