i also see that g-force makes mixer arms for both the r50 and r90. the description says you will get more pitch. has anyone tried these?? if so would you use the r50 arms or thr r90 arms to achieve the same as this mod?

Can't use mixing arms the bearing supports will hit the main rotor housing when you relocate for the new holes.

I used a pair of GeForce mixers but I modified them radically (read my posts) so they would not hit the head at the new 11mm position. at the end, you are better off with the R90 washout moded arms, "the topic" here.

ok i think i will try the mod using the r60/90 stock mixer arms but the thing that worries me is the drilling and tapping the new holes in the flybar seesaw.. i have the stock tt se head. is there any pointers someone can give to tap and drill the new holes to make it easier? what size drill bit and tap and do you use a standard hand drill or do you need a drillpress?
thanks for the help.

I used a Futaba drill ga. to lay out the holes, You can line up both holes at the same time on the pivot point with the 4mm. offset.
Use a drill press so your hole at right angle to the seesaw hub.
Don't know what size the drill is, I used the drill that came with the 3mm. tap.

Use oil on the tap to make it cut better and easier!

I just flew a machine with this exact mod and it flies very similarly to a Rap 50 with a Kasama head. If TT would produce the kit with this head setup, I doubt their customers would bolt to other machines as a plastic machine is a very good solution for folks starting out in the hobby.

Your not the only one that have said that. It's an easy mod, just time consuming.

Ok, I tried the mod with moved in holes, shortened the long side of the arm by 3mm, and the head flip. Flips were done in one spot and quicker, rolls were much improved. However, pitch around center stick (0*) seems nonexistant. You need to move the collective alot more to get through the zero degree pitch area. It did track very well in FFF. I think I'm going to set it up the original way again and retry it. Then if I like the flip better I will just increase points 2 and 4 so that the pitch feels more linear.

Thank you very much guys.
I will try this mod on my Titan head.
Right now I´m using G-Force mixers, but I thik this can work better.

Best regards,

Gaston

The reason for having to use a bit more collective through zero is the effect of the positive delta from the blade flip and some mechanical flex that exist in the linkage and head.
As the flapping action occurs when going thru zero pitch, you will encounter (feel) the nonliearity you mentioned. If the head was infinitely solid (no flapping) it would feel linear.

If you could move the ball on the blade grips closer to the center of the head via spacers, diferent ball or whatever, will reduce the positive Delta and give you a more linear feeling around zero.

Remember the stock setup yields a negative Delta (destabilizing), which gives me a jumpy feel around zero pitch.

I flipped both of my R50s and they now feel like pattern planes in fwd flight, yet super agile with the new mixers

I agree it does track nicely and flips/rolls nicely. I think the Infinavation dampeners help alot too. I just didn't like the nonlinearity of the pitch around midstick. Like I said I may just go back to the flip and modify points 2 and 4 about 5-10% to help get rid of the odd feeling. Other than that it rocks! I had done the flip before on a V1 and I forgot how it felt. My buddy said his T-rex has a similar feeling around midstick.

Gaston,
Nicely done.

What do you think about how it tracks now in foward flight?

Santiago,

I feel a more solid fight in FFF. Also in hover is more stable, but doesn't loose the agility (I hope this is the right word).
I really like this configuration.

Thanks for the help.

Best regards,

Gaston
