Ive just finished the modification to my 50 titan. Currently running +14/-11. I didnt shorten the 90 mixer arms just moved them in the 4mm on the flybar carrier. What a great mod...........cheers and thanks for the info.

CNC levers

I manage to find some time to CNC fabricate the levers. Currently, its still in the test phase, so i used acrylic instead of 6061 aluminum.

Pictures:

The dimensions are based on the drawing on the first page of this thread.

I posted more pictures on my site:

The design is not finalized yet, there will still be some minor changes to make the fabrication easier and to ensure the linkages line up properly.

lol ... it started off as a site to display my CNC and RC projects. Later, i went to Hongkong for about 5 months for an exchange programme. Hence during that time, I posted some of my experience which i enjoyed... mainly the food culture there.

Now that i am back, it will again be a RC/CNC site.

You should consider making stand off posts for the arms also.

Same thing as the spacer.

And the flybar carrier with the holes in the new place. You could do an upgrade kit...

If I may be so bold as to suggest some better fixturing concepts and better execution, the parts might actually come out the way you want them.

Yes you are right Tmmore. I am currently CNC cutting another pair of levers as i type this reply. Different toolpath, better fixtures. I'll post some pictures of it asap.

Btw, the first attempt of alu mixers are already posted on my site. Http://simplewords.genexis.net/ Feel free to leave me a comment or a shout.

The lever bearing area appears too thick and will hit the head block at the 4mm inboard position. That was one reason for using washout arms and the 6mm diameter spacers.

Here is a good example of what Mr Bell is saying. I made mine out of GeForce arms I already had. The inside bearing boss was machined in until it almost met the outer bearing. The spacers are still needed. I did a bit of cleaning (hacking with a dremmel)on the inside of the boss so it would not rub with the head because I used 5mm spacers instead of 6mm.

genexis arms will work if you don't relocate the pivot point on the flybar carrier, but one will be missing half of what makes this Mod so effective.

It is virtually imposible to machined it all as a one piece.

Now, he one thing I have not tried is flipping the grips to have a positive delta angle on the head. I am certain that this will increase the stability and tracking even more without hurting the new added responce. The Raptor 50 originally has a good amount of negative delta (destabilizing) which augments the stock setup but not nescessary with the new arms (IMO).

Has anyone has fliped the grips besides NORTHERNLIGHTS?

Hi,

Thanks for the advice. I've not tried fitting this to my raptor head yet because i'm still thinking of a way to effectively relocate mounting holes on the flybar seesaw to the 11mm mark.

Once that is done, i'll try to fit it to see if it works. If it doesn't, i'm still able to thin out the outer boss to avoid any rubbing against the main rotor hub.

I just cut another pair of levers last night with a much better finishing. I guess i'll be able to try drilling the flybar seesaw this weekend.

Thanks again for the advice.

Looks great. Maybe I should have less RCtoys, and more tooling.

Have you made any changes to this setup or thinking of any? Works great like it is.

Just an update, sad to say, the design of the mixing levers which i CNC'd does not fit well. Now i understand why MoneyPitVictim said that it is practically impossible to machine the levers in one piece. Basically you need the stand off posts to be very thin (i tested one with a diameter of 6mm and it works perfectly), thus the bearings needs to be at the levers itself.

Well, it is back to the drawing board. At least i know the requirements. I'll try to draw something up on solidworks and fabricate it soon. But its going to be next week, this weekend i'll be CNCing the frames for my eRaptor project.

Making the levers alone is not hard. Making the levers so they would work on the new seesaw location without separate spacers and not hit the head is imposible.

So far there is no better solution that the 90 washout arms. It would be great to find arms that work using the stock bearings from the 50 arms.

1 each PV0406 Flybar Control Lever Set

2 each PV0048 (2X d4xD8x3 HMV840ZZ bearings)

I used the whatever for spacers. Ideally, a 3mm ID X 4mm OD steel or brass tube will do, cut to length.

EDIT
Spacer: BK0076 (not sold by itself)
Use the spacers from inside your old plastic mixer levers
