I installed HiTec HG5000 combo on my Blade400. Has anyone done this yet and if so what's a good start point for the setup?

So far I have set.

SERVO SPEED to LED 1. Matches the Servo that came with the Gyro.

ROTATE RATE is set to default LED 3.

DIRECTION is ok.

SERVO LIMIT is set.

Gyro setting in radio is set to 65%.

What else do I need to be aware of?

Radio Settings????????????

I've read that a few have done this, because it's a good price/performance package. However, no one ever mentioned the setup. They just said how it was as good as the Futaba GY401 and they were very pleased with the setup over stock.

Sorry I don't have any numbers... I use a Futaba GY401 and JR3400G tail servo.

One of the LHS highly recommends this set up. I have not been able to get back to him. I'm still new to all this. I spend more time fixing and repairing my bird then I do get to fly it.

I bought a TREX 500 for my next build, which I haven't even touched yet.

My goal is to learn on Blade 400.

Thanks Torquestar

I'm doing exactly the same thing. I'm buying all the components right now for a Trex 500 CF build.

I'm still new at this, so I'll learn/crash on the B400, and then when I can get some acrobatics down with the Blade 400, then I'll see what I can do with the Trex 500.

Exactly! Except I bought the Trex GF 500 with JR 770 Gyro.

I was hoping someone has done this GYRO install so I could get some help!

Blade 400 3D HG-5000 Gyro/Servo Combo Installed Blade 400

Hi guys. I'm new to rc helis. I damaged my stock B-400 gyro and purchased the hg-5000 COMBO. Heli400, can you post pics of how you mounted the tail servo. I've seen other pics of futaba and jr mounted to the B-400. Also I'm interested in how you finally set up your gyro.

Thanks for any help.

We have installed this combo on a HBK2, Gazuar Poseidon, and T-rex SEv2. Set up is simple, hold is great, size is amazing. One thing to watch for is your mechanical set up. Hover the heli at the headspeed you want to fly at all the time with the gyro in rate mode. Set up the tail pushrod so that there is no drifting. Then switch into heading hold mode and do some fast piros with sudden stops.

If the tail linkage is not set right, the gyro will bounce during a hard stop in one direction and overshoot the stop in the other direction.

So would you guys reccomend this gyro as an upgrade for the B400? In your opinion would you say it is equal to or better/worse than the gy401. I really want to upgrade but man that 401 is pricy. Also, just learning flips and stuff I would like something to be a bit more "disposeable" than the $150 mark but at the same time I'm getting really sick of constant ruddering to correct the tail. It's like it will always go where I don't want it at the worst possible time. Especially with abrupt collective inputs. I'm not even trying a tic toc again till I get a new gyro.

Anyways, do you guys like it or not. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Glockaholic (nice name btw)

Here's a servo mounting option thought you might be interested in. Watch out though, the rex guys whine about it constantly. It's an align tail servo mount that you can find anywhere fyi. Comes with hardware and setup couldn't be any easier. Fast, simple and cheap. Just how I like em

The servo tabs on the stocker and the dsp75 are quite fragile fyi. Have to be kinda gentle when Installing them and aligning the supports.
