Just here to say hello!! Been flying planks with my husband and watching him fly helis for about year now so he decided it was time I learned too. Started with a CX, moved on to my own CP and have graduated all the way to my first TREX 450 (with training wheels of course). I know how to fix em but not ready to test my repair skills on my own heli yet!! For us it's a whole family hobby with all the brothers and newphews flying too! We even started our own website where we post "family fly-in" videos, photos and events (www.valpaeronautics.com) Yep, I'm the only female for now (I'm trying to get my sister into the hobby too) but that just means I get a lot of help and support...and a little ribbing when I do something really stupid. We're all having a blast...

Wow, sounds like you have a good group to fly with. I have been at the helis for about a year with my CX-2 and just got a Blade 400. I am scared to death that I am going to destroy it - but that's one way to learn I guess. I am having a blast learning to fly and I might have one of my girl friends talked into giving it a try too!!! I hope she does - sometimes it boring being the only girl at the field!!

Way to go

I have been hanging around my grandmother for years watching her hover and take the 3D heli to the sky. She has always been an inspiration to me because she alone with her walker has been able to use flying the Trex upside down as therapy for her unstable condition. She takes the eye-finger coordiation to her brain and is now able to solve even 5 star sudoku puzzles. I am now trying to fly by hovering a CX Eflight and hoping to move to the CP and so on. You seem to take it higher by updating the CP to the Trex, I too might do the same. Some how I feel my grandma and you have alot in common except for the urinary tract infections, but took on the challenge and is creating a stable but fun skills to hang with others. I hope to have the same relation with my transmiter too.

Happy Hover

Welcome to the club. And CONGRATULATIONS on your Grandma. It is great therapy. Is there anyway to post a video of her??

Stick with it and just know that the more money you spend and the better Helis you buy, it will become easier as you progress..

Hey rotor girl...thanks for the support and I hope we can both get more females involved. As you can see by the other VALP posting, aka Tail Spin Tammy, that's the kind of kidding I get from the family....fyi that's just one of my brother-in-laws being funny and teasing me. You're right, they're great to fly with even if I have to put up with the practical jokes. Don't worry, I can hold my own with them.

Hi VALP Aero,

Welcome aboard!! Sounds like you have a family of fliers!! Great fun, well except for all the practical jokes

I flew planks for more years than I'm willing to admit publicly I still fly them. I got into heli's ~3yrs ago, love them. I now have basement full of them. My favorites are my two trex 450's and my trex 600.

The downside is I'm in New Hampshire.....too much dang snow and aweful weather to fly outside. I use my little FP's for indoors

Cheers and welcome,
Leslie

I have a friend who says she might be interested in trying to learn to fly - if I can just get her to come over some time and try the sim or my CX-2! Most of the guys in our area are pretty supportive of me too. At our local swap shop and fly in one of the guys took a picture of me trying to hoover my new Blade 400 and was nice enough to post it on their clubs home page. I am hoping by summer to have the training gear off and hoovering outside so I don't have to sit around and just watch at the fly ins.
