Vario Sky Fox - Benzin - Evolution - Xtreme > Bell 47. Which Blades?

Here are some pix of my Vario Bell 47 GII with Benzin mechanics. Almost ready to go. The blades you see in the photo are my cut off woodie set-ups. I have the # 431 1630MM blades that came with the Benzin Trainer kit but they seem much too short for a 18.5 # heli. This only give a 64 inch rotor disc. Should I switch to the 1780's or get the scale blades. Open for suggestions. Dealers-- If you have suggested blades in stock, ready for delivery, please contact me. And, yes, that is the Fonz in the left seat.

You should be running the 90:18 gearing for a ratio of 9.09 to 1
The correct blades if you can find them would be the 815 mm # 419 (on backorder)
The proper rotor diameter is 71.25 inches

SAB's are available thru Cyberheli or Joe Howard (member name Vario) might still have a set or two

I have the #421 blades for mine. These are 1780mm. I also have the 90:18 gearing (#830/17).

These blades are about 787mm each which is a little shorter than what Mr. Moore suggested. These are what Daniel Grandmaison (Eastern Helicopter in Canada) recommended to me when I bought my parts.

Thanx

Thanks for the info Moore. Joe is shipping the blades Monday and will send me gears when they come in. BTW what is the tooth count on those gears? I'm not even sure what I have in it now.

Interesting. I have three sets on B/O with CA. They told me they have none.

I agree with Joe and Mike, either the 419 or 421 blades on your 47. I run the 419 on my 47 with the 87:21 gears. However I really wish I had the 90:18's in there to give me a lower head speed. I think the SAB 231 blades (810 mm) would work just fine also.
I am sure you will enjoy your 47, I love just putting around the field with mine.

Woo-Hoo!

Got my beautiful SAB 810's from VARIO (Joe) today. Weighed them on the triple beam and they were exactly the same weight! Whew, that was easy. Now if I can just find some scale looking square tipped tail rotor blades-------
