Does any one know the speed record for a heli with 425mm blades. Are the blades of the helicopter what put it in a certain class? Thanks for the help everybody.

Don't know what the speed record is but I am fairly certian that the size of the motor determins the class it's in. I would sure like to know that speed record though.

Speed Records

As far as official records go, there is nothing currently in existence for small helis differentiated from the larger machines.

You might look at the IRCHA events from last year, I top qualified in the micro-heli drags at a distance of 100' with a time of 1.64 seconds, and I believe the winner of the pylon races had a very fast heli also.

If there is enough interest, I am sure we could put together a speed run event for 450 sized helis this year for speed to go along with the pylons and drag racing!!

My guess is around 40-50 mph would be about it, but Ya never know!!
