Putting guns on helicopters is pretty basic. What's more interesting is the flight control software, optimizing for the least weight & greatest robustness, none of which was shown in the Army Times.

I wouldn't call it basic, its one of those things that looks a lot easier then it is, I got to see a demo where it was done autonamous, {the flying, NOT the firing!}
I would bet there is a lot more developing going on right now in that field then we are aware of!
