Things really are coming together Mark. "HeliFun" is getting better and better.

Allot of it is because of all of you guys!!

With the momentum built from you guys posting that you are coming... and the excitement you are showing in that... it has a synergy all it's own.

Here are some examples of the synergy happening here.

I sent out more emails for event/ raffle sponsorship today... and I included a link to this thread... and so far we have Callie stepping up strong... a $50 gift certificate from ReadyHeli (Thanks John & Jen)... and tomorrow I will be finishing up details and announcing that two of the very best custom canopy painters out there... are stepping up with a gift certificate for a custom order/ custom painted canopy from each of them.

We have 2 club members (Matt & Terri) who unselfishly commit to preparing the food at our events... and after reading this thread... they are truly excited to also have food for us on Sunday... and to top it off... they offered and want to also cook Breakfast Sunday morning, for those staying over to fly a second day.

Breakfast is going to be egg, cheese & sausage sandwiches... and probaly bacon & eggs with fried potatoes - orange juice, and coffee.

We want to say "Thanks" to you guys - and "Thanks" to everyone (and we mean everyone) that is a part of this, and whom are sponsoring this event!!!

Reposted, since it got lost!!
From Brent--------

got a price back for the Holiday Inn Express that a friend manages - and it was $120 a night for the event (reg $135)... Seemed high so I started calling around - and looking on the Net - and here is what I have come up with.

The least expensive rooms are at Americas Best Value - in Cambridge, MD. I called - and then looked on the Net - and it is cheaper to book over the Net. This place is also the lowest rated in town, on hotels.com (2.6 guest rating). The rates on the Net are $54.95 for a single queen, and $59.95 for a double queen - and AAA also gets you a discount off of that. The rates they quoted me on the phone were about $15 higher, and no group rate available - so book this one on the Net if you choose it.
Here is the URL:
http://www.americasbestvalueinn.com/bestv.cfm?idp=528

The next would be Days Inn in Cambridge (4.0 out of 5 - guest rating on hotels.com)

http://www.daysinn.com/DaysInn/cont...79&brandInfo=DI

I have a call into the Manager, to see if we can get a group rate. The manager on duty told me she thought we could, but the main manager won't be back until next Tue morning... to call me back.

They are $79 for a single queen, and $89 for double queen beds.

She thought she we would get about 10% off - so that brings it to about $71 or so for a single, and $80 or so for a double.

I will let you know next Tue what we end up with for the Days Inn.

Thanks- Brent

Update on Rooms

Hi Everyone,

Sam with Days Inn in Cambridge just called me back on the group room rate.

Geez he is a nice guy!! Anyways - he did better on the group rate than I listed/ thought he would.

He has a block of 10 rooms pulled back for us. They are $75.00 for a room with double queen beds... for Friday and/ or Saturday night the 16th & 17th. He reduced the price down from the regular price of $89.00.

You will need to call and reference "HeliFun" to get the group rate. Their phone number is: 410-228-4444

You can check it out at:

http://www.daysinn.com/DaysInn/cont...79&brandInfo=DI

Thanks!

Brent

4-03 update edit: I just got the email from the Days Inn tonight with the group rate details. The fine print says that the room reservation needs to be made by the 1st of May to get the reduced rate. They will not bill the card until you get there to check-in... and you have up to 72 hours before the check-in to cancel... but make the reservation by the 1st for the group rate.

well, IMO the biggest problem would be the helis, but i bet we could easily get 6+ in there, keys, would also be an issue, but i'm sure it could be worked around. With only 10 rooms we may have to resort to doing that.

Heads Up if you are planning on staying at the Days Inn in Cambridge:

I just got the email from the Days Inn corporate last night, confirming the group rate details ($75 vs. $89 a night). The fine print says that the room reservation needs to be made by the 1st of May to get the reduced rate. They will not bill the card until you get there to check-in... and you have up to 72 hours before the check-in to cancel... but make the reservation by the 1st for the group rate.

I called Sam (the Manager) this morning to see if he could help us change this, but he said that he couldn't "move that mountain".

He said - "If you are not sure you need a room but you think you might... reserve a room before the 1st of May to get the better rate... and then just cancel it if you decide not to use it"

He said that he can get us more than the block of 10 rooms we have, if we need some more rooms... so "reserve away"

The special $75 dollar room rate is also good for Friday night, for those coming down then.

*If you are just learning about the room deal - Reference "HeliFun" to get the group rate. Their phone number is: 410-228-4444
