Gasser Model RC Helicopters > Tuned Pipe on Gassers any feedback?

Maybe just vibration added from the boom mount for the pipe?
I have no horizontal fin on mine, but the vertical fin actualy stopped vibrating once I fitted the pipe.
My mount is thin aluminium, and can flex a bit, so I dont think it passes on as much vibration as I expected.

Well, Ive just received some upgrade parts I ordered from Realheli.
So its time to pull the pipe off and drop the motor.
Imagine my suprise when I see that both the header and tip of the pipe are crushed in about 5mm total on the header, and about 8.5mm on the pipe itself!!
I thought that the power level had seemed to drop a bit lately, but thought I must just be getting used to it
So now I guess I need a copper pipe flaring tool to reshape them
I can see this not being cheap.
I knew I had the clamps done up pretty tight, but not THAT tight!
They are just hose clamps after all. Not very impressed really.

Dang gorn,,, You need to go in and get your bionic arm readjusted

Yes you can crush the header and pipe if you get things to tight,, You just want it to be snug, the coupler that the header and pipe go into helps hold everything together, and the clamps are only there to help keep things in place,, Go and find you a plummer and see if he can straighten things back out for you, that way you don't have to buy something to do it, or maybe a hardware store,, Good luck,, XGM/VGM

Gorn, I have the same experience too, my pipe is a little bit crushed also, but the zimmerman header is so strong even if you tighten it that much. Make sure that your pipe will not come-off during flight it will drop like a bomb.

Gorn: Change to Zimmerman Header. At least you can tighten well the header part and just slightly tighten the pipe side. i will attached some pictures later.

I used this one. I think the other one is a little bit longer. but it will both work.

Hmmmm, think I might get the longer one. The headspeed Im using is 1900, so longer pipe suits higher rpm I think.
Anyway it gives me a bit more room to cut if required.
Thanks Shiro

Just re-read some posts, I stand corrected, the shorter one is better for more rpm.

gorn, I think the differance between the two, is the first one will be closer to your engine, and the second one, moves it out about 3/4", the second one is what I use on the wrap around zimmerman muffler,,

gorn: to make the header away from the engine I used two original spacer that came with the zenoah engine. In between I put Realheli's asbestos gasket and attached it with the high temp copper filled silicon sealant. Of course I used a longer bolt for that. hope that this helps. to bend the header a little bit upward, you should attached first the header to the engine and use a longer round tube to pull the header a little bit upward.
