Gasser Model RC Helicopters > Tuned Pipe on Gassers any feedback?

yea

From what I have read on one one gentleman said the reason that 'some ' of the headers broke is that it was too rigid of a mount. This may have applied more to the screw in style where people screwed it all the way in and made it very rigid. what I have been told is that it needs to float as much as possible. I am not sure what the real reason yours broke vibs, mounting rpm, material ...we could ponder this for too long.

Bottom line they run fantastic when you get it set, but takes a few hoops to get it.

A little bit disappointed today flying my heli with the pipe. Indeed the pipe is really powerful but a little bit sensitive and really difficult to tune. I am not the guy who has all the patience in this world to tune my engine with the pipe. that's why i revert back to my original RH Muffler, not that powerful but easy to use. Goodluck Gorn to your Pipe
Anyway who wants a pipe? I am selling mine together with the header. PM me if you're interested.

I don't really have the patience for tuning a tuned pipe either. I think you have to have the rpm at just the right speed and the carb set just right and even then it probably wont accelerate from an idle very well or run very good till it get to the right rpm. Sorry to here that it isn't going to work out for you. All of this talk about power has me thinking about tring the V3 even though I didn't like the V2 that I had.

Found the problem of my Engine. The original carb of Hanson 3D Max (643) is not compatible with the pipe. I changed it to 813 and it runs well and smoothly. That 813 carb has a built-in jet inside to pump out more fuel when you throttle up. Right now Happy again with the pipe, Only that in needs higher rpm to make it perform better. Do you experience same set-up also?

Found it, mine is a 643. I will try it like this anyway.
Where did you buy your carb from Shiro? How much did it cost?

that pipe looks good on your heli if you ask me. That accelerator pump in the carb sounds prety cool. It looks a lot like the 643 carb. I guess we probably for the most part don't need an accelerator pump since we don't change rpms much like say a car or boat but if it helps while having that tuned pipe on there then that is good.

Thanks Toadster for the compliment. I already replaced the rubber coupler with one found here in the local store. they told me that the one (hose) they gave me is used for steam gasses. It has a steel ply inside. I will again test the full potential of the pipe this coming sat. Hope that everything will go according to plan

Thanks Shiro
Im in the process of setting up my new JR X9303, trying to get my GV1 working lol.
Im going to make a new pipe mount that is more vibration friendly this weekend. I havent tried it with my solid mount, but cant see it being nice after hearing the experiences of others
Cheers

Gorn: Don't activate your governor when you're still tuning your engine with the pipe it may damage the engine.

Excellgasman: already read the article, it is very informative but a little bit technical. anyway thanks for posting it, a big help.

you may not get the proper engine tuning because the governor will try to compensate your set rotor rpm. actually that is what they told me also.

Hmmm. Im having trouble setting up my GV1 and X9303 anyway
From what I understand, this pipe comes into its own between 12500 and 13000rpm. With my idle 2 setting of 1900HS its right around 13k anyway.
The problems I have here is the lack of local pilots that do gas and know what their talking about.
I will take your advice and hold off on the governor for now.
Cheers

Regarding your X9303, read the Manual inside the CD, you will need to activate the governor function for you to see the governor menu. give me some updates of your initial test.
