Heli Bowling

Had a great time bowling last year -- didn't win, but had fun trying.

It's one of those "why didn't I think of that" contests. Takes quite a bit of stick skill, but it's only hovering and slow flight, so almost anyone could play and win. For the adrenalin junkie, the swinging ball will give you an overdose if things get off-kilter.

LOL,
As I recall last years heli bowling. I WON! No prize for having fun and stupid in the wind.
Perry, Bill P. has plenty of empty fuel bottles so all we have to do is find the ball. I also have a night ship ready to rock the skys.
Should I bring the scale ship?

I think is just taking all the glory!!....LOL....

I may have a night ship as well. Never got to fly it at night yet but I should have given it a try by May. Just talked with the boss at dinner tonight and it sounds like I get to go.... Yippi!!!!

Watch out bowling fans I am planning on making a good showing..

I should have the new Evo 90 flying by then. In fact it should be flying by this thursday... It used to be Chris Bloom's from seattle. Small world. I picked it up at the monroe Swapmeet at a great price... Just need to install gyro and finish a couple of links.. AR7000 showed up today....
Not sure if I will compete in any of the classes this year. I think I will just come down and have fun.......

Counting down the days......

Night flying

Should have one of my 600's ready for night flying. Think I'll go with the align night blades. I have all the rope and and extra canopy, so the set up should be easy. Haven't done much night flying the last few years but I used to do it quite a bit.

Sounds like a lot of us will probably have night ships. I'll have both my T-rex 500 and Synergy on night gear. I'm hoping to have my new project there too...

Perry,
Take along your little 400. I comes in a handy cardboard box
I am drawing up some plans to get a shelf made for the back of my Rodeo for the fun fly. It looks I will be bringing 5 ships maybe six.
Got my hotel in Othello all paid for and I told work that I would be gone for a few days (notice I did not ask work,,,,,I told them!)
Good to go!

Night flying

Got the 600 flying tonight. The align 600 night blades are pretty damn bright and fly well, much brighter than MS's and SAB's. They don't auto too well but they did increase the cyclic rate by a bunch.

Cool!

I'm going to get me a set.How much do they weight?
What blades are you running in the day and did you mean they were faster than them or the MS or SAB night blades?
I'm running the Rotortech 610's 125 to 127 gram.

I don't have the weight of the blades, for day I'm flying Radix and just got a set of Align 600's. The align blades are at least 50% faster on cyclic than the Radix and the SAB's that used until they broke, the thing rolls like a foamie. I suspect they are relativly light compared to the Radix and SAB's. The day blades from Align and the night blades from Align fly about the same. I have flown the MS regular blades on my 600N and the Align blades are about the same.
There are two different colors, blue on top and green on the bottom, the green is closer to the tip than the blue is. All the LED's are very bright.

I also have a set of the Align night blade. I only have one test hop at night in the sub zero temps. The did look good. Still hope to get a couple of night flights in before I make a fool of myself in Othello...

I also have the MS night tail blades. With all the glo wire and both night main and tail blades a heli looks super cool...

I used to fly the Align mains untill their safty recall. I never had any issues with them, and the only reason I got rid of them is that I felt it was better safe than sorry. I think their new "D" blades are the new and improved ones.
I am waiting for the snow to melt. There is still about two and a half feet of snow on the flying field. I have been flying at a buddies. He has 20 acres and works ok. He will have snow untill June, but he has a large area plowed for take offs and landings..

Counting down the days untill the FF. I still have not found the "bowling ball".. I will try to find it today...
