Whats up with a driven tail.........

Yea, Ditto....does this mean the Logo 400 won't be a good bird? Or it just won't Auto?

What does a driven tail give you???

Hmm, the Logo 10 doesn't have a driven tail yet it has always been considered a great heli.

> What does a driven tail give you???

Tail control during autos.

This really does sound like a Logo 10 with perhaps a shorter tail boom.

Any1 think there might be a mod later to make a L400 have a driven tail?

If a mod was never developed for the Logo 10, then I doubt it would for the 400. The Logo 10 has been around for a good bit of time and nothing ever came through.

Actually, there was one mod someone came up with... Lock up the one-way bearing and use a motor with as little drag as posssible when not powered and turning.

The heli will still be fgood without the driven tail. It really is only a preference thing. I remember not so long ago when people bagged on the Swift for not having one also. I think the tide will turn because some people believe that there is enough power lost with the tail driven to really affect their auto capabilities so they would rather have a non-driven tail. Personally it does not matter much to me either way right now. Most of my autos are from onlt 10 feet up anyway....Ron

Good to hear, I am VERY intrested in this heli since I love this size! I have been looking hard at the 5003D for a while now but just didn't like the size/batt requirements. This one seems made to order!

Can't Wait!

The Logo 400 is indeed a re-vamped Logo 10 - did you not read my previous post?

The Logo 10 autos just fine, and the 400 will too. You just can't expect to do the trick autos.

A driven tail will add weight and complexity, something I personally don't need or want on a 430mm blade heli. It is a matter of opinion, and there are other choices on the market if you require a driven tail in a heli this small.

On another note...

I asked Ralf the direct question about Mikado producing a 90 sized heli, and his response was "never". I can't blame him at the moment.

Sorry, I missed it.

Agreed.

Perhaps off topic a bit, but what are good/the best 425-430 mm blades on the market right now?

Rotortech/align for blades.

Driven tail:
How can a extra pulley and longer belt be that much weight? maybe a tad amount of extra friction.
but if the Align500 can auto nice with a gear then pulley shurley Mikado could have built it like there 500...it sure is nice to control the tail at the end of the auto not just aerobatics

Hmm, had thoughts about cutting one of my Logo 10s down to the 400 size. But... The blade bolts are 4 mm and the available 425 blades are 3 mm. One would need some bushings.

JKos,

The original Logo 10 blade grips were 3mm, but were changed to 4mm when we started stretching the Logo 10 to 555mm blades.

So, I imagine Mikado is aware that we need 3mm bolts and hope they will include them in the Logo 400 kits.

Later...

What size of battery would be the best for Logo 400?
Same as Trex500?

Thanks

Yep the same pack should work well. They both run the same blade size.

Looks like it doesn't have a Herringbone Maingear...Does that mean it won't be as effecient as the 500/600 line of heli's? Or just louder?

I don't think you'll ever find someone who would say the Logo 10 was loud or inefficient. Thus, I would suspect the 400 will be just fine.

Exactly John,

this is a 10 year old design,
with a new canopy and plastic battery tray instead of a carbon one must be a DX version as the swash is plastic on the flybar version like the old logo10 standard and it was a 10cell or 4-5s machine.

This is almost a joke !

Mind you the logo10 did fly well, still this is making fun of the consumer ...NEW logo400....

I never relized the L10 was that small a heli. I always throught the L10, L14, & L24 were all bigger helis that required 8s or higher on Lipos, Guess I was missinformed. I really like this size of heli and since flying my Lepton am I looking for a second heli in the same size range. I don't like the Trex 500 so that one is out. I have always liked the quality of the Logo series, just didn't want to have to get larger batteries. Thanks for the info guys, maybe I should just look at the L10 if it will spin 425mm and run the same 5s batts I have for the Lepton!
