Robbe Cuatro - Millennium - Nova - Dyna-X > Tips needed on Futura fuel tank R&R

I am trying to revive a Futura SE Youngblood edition for a noobie. This heli has been sitting for 6 years after having only 2 gallons run through since new. I am not familiar with this heli and wanted to know what problems I might run into pulling the tank to replace fuel lines. As far as I can tell with a quick look, I have to remove the front of the heli to get the tank out. If there is a quicker way, please tell me. I know it is not a real big deal to do that, but I am kinda hoping there will be a quicker way to R&R the fuel lines. Thanks for your help guys!

Nope. It is the only way. You may not want to fly that heli though. You'll get hooked.

Yep you gotta remove the front of the heli, just 3 bolts and the links need to be taken off to get it out.

here's a pic.

EDIT: HeliAddict speaks the truth.

Thanks guys, I thought it looked like that was the only way. The guy that owns it is only hovering right now (and he's got V-Blades and a 601 on it!!). I am gonna try and get him into a more reasonable heli to learn FF. Once he is ready for this, I'm sure it will help a lot that this heli is rock solid.

Is Hovering with V blades and a 601 a BAD thing?

Until next time.... Keep them rotors outta the dirt....

I did not know there was such a thing, sounds neat. Guess you have to buy two sets of blades, balance them perfectly, and then have one blade for spare huh?

Yeah thats the plan, the only blades I have on me are 800's for a gasser camera ship, and Im not keen on risking 800 blades and a stretched boom on an experimental project. Will get som 690's or 710's in the next couple of days.

Heres a pic:

That three blade head is HOT! You have to come back and tell us how it flys when you get it in the air...

Hi Ben,

I own'd one (3 blade head), but with a Hughes 300C scale body under it and with a gasser conversion.

To be honest...
I didn't quite like'd the way it flew. It's totally different than flying with a flybar.
Because other heli's of me are with flybar too, it is realy difficult to adapt to the multiblade way of flying.
I changed in to a conventional 2 blade head with flybar.
Still have the Hughes, it's a lovely heli.
Curious what you're experience will be.

Eric.

Hiya,

I have had experience with multiblades before, on a micro chopper a while back. Designed by my friend and I, it was a bit of an experiment in both head design, and mechanical mixing as I wanted a unit that could easily be added to existing 4 channel helicopters.

Ultimately I found that I blade choice made all the difference, to the point that I no longer needed the mixers. I used some very high aspect ratio blades from MS Composit (works of ART!) and the machine flew like it had a flybar.

With the Robbe head, I am thinking about testing with some 600mm blades, although they are short for the machine, I would imagine their relatively small chord and high disk loading will give me a good place to start (short of Starwood's multi blade sets).

Hi Erichevy,

Very nice 300! Great paint that is an awesome ship! Do you know if it is possible to find Gasser mounts for the futura anymore? (I have 2 but can always use more, not to mention the many people asking me if they are still available). I also have the 300 kit from Robbe, and although it is on the shelf for a while I had it flying a couple of months back.

Anyway will be picking the blades up tonight, will get back here to report.

Ben

Ben,
I use 800mm blades on the Hughes.
About you're question concerning gasser mounts for your Futura's, I asked Alex from ERCmarket to explain what you can use and which part number.

Ben,
I'll try this one..
Concerning the gasser mount/conversion
Are you reverring to a Futura or the Futura Nova?
Because for the Futura Nova the gasser conversion is still available from Robbe.
Part. number is S2880. (it is for the Nova Cuatro, but fit's the futura Nova also)

And for the older (same as mine)Futura SE, this gasser mount is discontinued.
Alex from www.ercmarket.com can help you with these mounts.

Eric.

Hi Eric,

Yeah, I have a SE. I will talk to eRC, otherwise I am going to take one of my mounts to an engineering shop and see what the can do in terms of duplicating it.
