WOW!!! The helicopter comes with extra parts.

I found another swash guide in the box..The helicopter comes with extra parts I can't believe it..So I fixed the swash guide and also found that the swash ball connector was cracked. I have extra connectors so that is also fixed. Now the only thing I need is the hiller for the flybar and I will be good to go to the next step...The part should be arriving on Thursday... I am still Grounded and now have time for my other hobbies till Thursday...

HELICOPTER FIXED !!! I POWER UP TODAY!!!

Wow!! The helicolpter is fixed...So I powered it up and everything is in good working order...I am now ready to move on.. Next problem and I am not sure what I am doing wrong, or how to correct the problem...As I power up the helicotper starts sliding to the left before I lift off. So I added right click on the stick and when I am ready to lift off the helicotper now tips to the right almost turning over... I am missing something or doing something wrong to the setup give me some Ideas to correct the problem..I can't try and lift off till I have this corrected...Thanks for your help Guys!!!

Hi,
You could either add some skid-stops (which I see are not installed on this heli), get up off the ground sooner, or modify your pitch curve to lower values during the period before it's completely spooled up.
You could always take off on grass, too.

Make sure that your swash plate is moving correctly to your inputs, i.e., full throttle moves swash up with all three servos, pulling back tilts swash back and pushing forward on stick moves swash forward, moving stick to the left, swash tilts left and so on. I've seen people that think the swash is setup correctly when it's not. At lift-off the helicopter will drift and you will need to counter act this with opposite stick input. Once it's out of ground effect it will be much easier to control.

Good Luck

Gary

thanks Gary for the info

The swash plate is setup correctly that I am sure of. I've had the helicopter off the ground and it flew fine just to touchie,,,I am going to install some skid stops more like water floats I will have a photo on this evening. I also have a few other thinks I am going to do before I try and fly again. I need to reset the timing on the motor to low, and change my expo to 30 I also got expo on the rudder which I need to take back to zero..Then I am going to try again...I will also add some new photos this evening of the skid stops they work great and help incase of a hard landing. I've used them when I was just starting out flying...The stops also add little weight to the helicopter because they are made of foam..Agian I will add photos tonight and give and update on the next test flight....Thanks for you comments and suggestions...

Hello all,

I will be taking over this thread as I have bought the Viper from Hover.

Once it arrives, I will assess it and give an overall impression of this heli to begin with.

I will also list all the selections I will be making for electronics for review. Once I have a flyable bird in stock form, I will start working with it to improve it. I have seen a couple of other threads on it, but I will be doing my own thing.

I am returning to the hobby and relearning to fly so it will be a slow go to begin with.

I currently have a Blade 400 and I am just now getting comfortable with it in a hover and orientation practice.

I will also have a Trex soon as well. Eventually the Blade will go to my son after I acquire a 500/600 Class electric.

I do not know if I will have a nitro bird or not as I am very partial to the electrics.

Cool! If I can help in anyway let me know, I use to be a Rep. and a Tech. for Ikarus USA for 5 years I listed some of my mod's of my Viper 70 on a post on here. I will be upping the power on mine, the motor setup on mine now was the hot set up for it back then, I'm looking to getting the current high power motor, and looking to use 4 cells. Even trying the Viper 90 tail boom and blades with 4 cell's to really power it up. Later

Yes, I was following your post as well. I am skipping the plastic swash altogether and definitely using the metal swash.

Well, I have it in hand and I will be starting to build it back up again this weekend. I think I can fashoin any missing head pieces from what I can tell from Hover-L-H's head problems.

Hi David,,,

I just wanted to let you know some of the parts you have came from January Flyer he's been helping me over the phone during the build and the first time the head blow apart he sent me extra parts plus that he had to fix the helicopter. Then when it blew apart again I gave up. Good luck with your build and I can't wait for you to get started so maybe I can see what I did wrong.

Any updates on the Vipers?

Either davidg51537 build or january flyer power upgrade?

And would anyone recommend the build if it came NIB with an aluminum swash and Hardened Main Shaft? If so, or if you could do it again which motor would you install. Seriously.......

No I haven't upgraded yet I know it will be a blast to fly, it was hot with the old stuff, but I will get around to it. Because Hobby Lobby didn't need me or want my help at all when they took over importer for Ikarus, as of to day I'm now a scale helicopter Rep. for Ace Thundertiger very happy As soon as I can I will get the stuff for the viper going and just might sell it.
