Just noticed, the "Member since" spot next to each post has just gone away.
Im gonna miss that.

Without having to click their user profile to find out how long they've been around, it added some bit of credibility to their posts/ opinions.

I don't like the missing dates either. Although its not the perfect way to determine someone's credibillity and there are definately exceptions, it does usually help weed out some of the newbie advice as well as quickly identifying established members to sell/buy from in the classifieds without looking up their profile.

I do like the signature change though. It is annoying reading someone's sig thinking it is part of the post

These changes might have something to do with the attitudes being displayed lately on RR.

The one thing I didn't like was way people would gang up on and
verbally assault an individual for posting their ideas.

I PM'd Mark about it and his response was..........

That it distracts from the post's date.........

I don't agree and would rather have that back in place for reasons already stated by previous posts above.....

The post date is very clear it isn't like the two of them are right next to each other. If they were side by side I could see how it was distracting. I say bring it back. The space looks funny where it used to be. I do however love the new way signatures look.

Site appeal is driving the change. Easily reading posts takes priority over redundant dates and signatures. Member names are color coded to reflect newbie status and hovering over a member's POSTS link reveals posts count. Classified posts have links to classified history. And last but not least click the member's profile link for the member's join date.

Maybe instead of the redundant area information when hovering over someones name, it could show the join date instead?

I have seen people in this hobby less than a year with more than 1000 posts and they still don't know what they are talking about Post count really means nothing to me. Although it is not perfect for guessing someone's experience, overall time in this hobby seems more important to me which is why I often catch myself looking at a member's join date.

Funky,

That's a brilliant suggestion !!!!

How about it, Mark ??? Best of both worlds.......you get rid of the "redundancy" you're complaining about while at the same time giving the members what they want !!!!

Good idea.

Put the Mouse-over feature to better use.

Im still in favor of just having the join date back up there, though.
Somepeople, like myself, dont really use the mouse all that often.

The greying of signiture is a great idea because for some reasons, some member's signiture always look like part of their post.

I liked the member since date thingy, ok not that I really like it, but it has been there for years and taking it away now just make the side of the area under each member's name empty, like something is missing. Add to the site appeal? I would think not.

Nowadays, I find that some other r/c forums have this feature that when you place your mouse cursor over the title of a thread in a sub-catogory page, the first few lines of that thread appears in a float up box. That is something that I think would be a good idea because some thread titles and their actual content don't really match and this feature can save us the hassle of opening a thread that doesn't interest us.

The missing member join date plus other useful information will be displayed when hovering over the member's name. This will happen soon.
