Castle who ???

Couple quick questions.

Do you feel you will be one of the first to have these ESCs in stock?

Next are you taking Pre-Orders?

Is the JIVE 80+ HV available in the US? For $480.00 US, you can get a PJ, I thought Kontroniks was coming out with a less expensive 12s ESC, not just smaller and more expensive.

I doubt the conversion will work out like that, or at least I hope so. Last time when the PJ first came out the Euro price was "WAY" higher than what it was once it was out in USA.

Great news ! As... I just bought a PJ 63V

The bad point IMHO is the return of the ProgCARD, but version 2 incompatible with the ProgCard I for the Jazz units.

That is the only thing I don't like with the Kontronic ESC because that card is something like Archaic... with it 1950's look computer board & red/green leds + the instable translator board.

IMHO, a simple USB connector with software should have be a best option.
Just easier and upgradable.

At almost four times the cost of an Align 100A......

Is this controller four times better? Don't get me wrong, I would love to have one and I know they have outstanding governor modes but I just can't figure out for the life of me why an ESC should costs almost as much as a T-Rex 450 SE V2 Kit. Does it have an anti-gravity mode that will take over the heli when it's bound to meet the planet at an abrupt angle? Or maybe, it's capable of twenty minute flight times with a 5000 Mah pack. Now if that were true, I want one! Is popularity of this hobby driving prices to an untouchable level?

Either is the United States!

Believe me when I tell you that I don't live in a wealthy area by any stretch of the imagination. The area is actually still considered an old coal mining area but just try and get a table any day of the week at Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Chili's, Red Robin, Top Round, you name any restaurant and after 5:00 pm there will be a 45 minute wait for a seat. I go in Lowes at 9:30 in the morning and there are ten person lines at a dozen registers. The local Hummer dealer can't get enough units to meet their demand and keep in mind that this is a machine that gets an average of 9 miles to the gallon at a cost of premium fuel at $3.65 a gallon. Yea, we're in a recession alright our local Harley dealer has a 9 month waiting list for every model they offer and I believe the cheapest one is over $9000. Is the housing market strong? Heck no but I don't totally agree that classifies this country as being in a recession but then again I'm no economist. The Germans can charge $480 for their controllers simply because we as hobbyists simply have to own the latest and greatest of everything offered and with a name like "Jive", how could it be anything other than the best electronic speed controller available on the planet.
Respectfully,
Ed

Well here, it seems like everyone is holding on to their money. My buddy sells Chevy and says he can't give away an Avalanche. There are 8-10 Corvettes in inventory. (thats a lot for this town) It doesnt help when the media casts a negative light on the economy almost nightly. The rich are more resilient. It also seems like most people who have a Hummer are business owners. The Harley shop has a ton of motorcycles on the floor and just not the ones nobody wants. I guess its a little different everywhere. I cant wait to get our $1200 to stimulate the economy!!! Problem is, in this hobby I am ALWAYS stimulating it. BTW, I think we are hijacking this guys thread.

Not really. Let's face it, the Jive is incredibly over priced and until they cut that price by 50%, I hope they sit on their entire inventory.

Remember, Supply and Demand. They are not the only one selling high voltage controllers.

The only features that stand out to me from the Jazz is the beefed up BEC(nice) and it is waterproof. I have fried every ESC that has touched water(one Jazz, two Align). At $450 USD though for the 6s 100amp version I wouldn't even think about buying one.

The cost to make a ESC is maximum 20$ Electronics cost nothing to produce. But that is typical in this hobby. I rather buy cheap Chinese stuff than exspencive hott stuff. Maybe the qualitey is less, but not 3 times less...:-) For 5 years ago, a flat tv cost around 10000$, today its down to 1000@ for the same tv...

Probably a bit more but paying an electronic enginner to develop and test such thing isn't cheap. Furthermore you can't spread that cost over a billion units, since the market for those is pretty narrow.

Wait a second... how much does a crash cost? A Jazz is quit common here (Austria/Germany). one thing why it's that expensive is that Kontronik ships from an Euro country.

You say the "jive" esc is good for 5-12 lipo

Readyheli says it is only good up to 6s lipo

The pictures says it is good up to 25 volts which is just over what a 6s lipo is rated for at 3.7 volts per cell.

I want to buy one of these but now i am confused.

Also, is the 80 enough for full out 3d of a logo 6003d or do i need to look into the jive 100?

I am running 10s lipo packs so im not even sure it will work at all.

LV is good up to 6S, the HV are good up to 12S, that is the difference. ReadyHeli in USA has them and www.rcflightstore.com in Canada has them in stock.
